How Murali Met His Royal Wife?

Shakereh Khaleeli was a known name in Bangalore. She was a part of the royal Nizams, and she was also married to an equally wealthy and royal household. She was living a happy and stable life with her husband Akbar Khaleeli, but something was off about them. Although it cannot be pinpointed what exactly was wrong between them, we are speculating that something was not going right between the married individuals. The reason can be anything. If they had a good relationship, Shakereh would not have decided to leave the Khaleeli household.

Nevertheless, amidst this tension, the family visited their acquaintance and family friend in Delhi where Murali worked. At that time, Murali was no longer a mere servant. He handled important matters with taxes and property. As Shakereh came across Murali, she got interested in the man due to his wittiness. However, this turned out to be dangerous because Murali was slowly trapping the woman in his nasty web of greed and hunger for power. Unknown to the real intentions of Murali, Shakereh was slowly nearing the lion’s den which she had no clue about.

Why Murali Decided To Kill Shakereh?

Following the meeting of Shakereh and Murali in Delhi, Shakereh was slowly giving in to the so-called ‘magical’ charms of Murali. The police reported that Shakereh was more influenced by Murali because she wanted sons from him. She already had four daughters with Akbar, but she dreamt of having sons, and Murali used this desire of hers to manipulate her into conceding to him. But, why was Murali doing all these things? He was attracted to Shakereh’s massive property. Being a part of the Nizam royal family, she was a rich owner of huge land and various jewels. Now, you know what attracted Murali.

Consequently, the differences in the Khaleeli household started to grow wider and resulted in Shakereh giving a divorce her husband. No sooner did the divorce happen than she went on to marry Murali in 1991. Little did she know that the marriage would cost her her life.

After her marriage, both Murali and Shakereh could no longer feign to be a happy couple. Probably she started to get hints about the real intention of Murali. He, on the other hand, was getting extremely impatient. He wanted to have all the golden eggs of the duck in one go and hence decided to kill Shakereh.

The Murder Case Of 1991 That Shook The Country

Murali planned a murder plan to kill Shakereh and get hold of her property as her widowed husband. He asked the workers at their house to build a casket and dig a pit in their backyard. Afterwards, he skilfully mixed sleeping pills with Shakereh’s meals which caused her drowsiness and blackouts.

Murali took advantage of her state, put her in the casket, and buried her alive in the already-made pit.

The police, at first did not find Shakereh’s body, but when they kept up searching and going deeper into the case, they eventually found the decaying body of Shakereh.

In 1994, after the threads of the case were tied altogether through the various pieces of evidence, Murali was finally apprehended and sentenced to life-long imprisonment by the Supreme Court of India.
