The Winchesters is an upcoming 2022 series that serves as a prequel to the long-running series Supernatural, which ran from September 2005 – November 2020 with over 327 episodes airing for 15 years. It was created by Eric Kripke, who is also known for creating the popular superhero-thriller series The Boys.
Supernatural was a tv series that focused on the Winchester brothers Sam and Dean where they reunite to look for their father, who seemingly went missing on a hunting trip they find out that by that it meant he hunted supernatural monsters attacking humans such as ghosts, vampires and spirits and had trained his sons to do the same. Along the way, they come across various allies and villains in the series.
The series has gotten very popular to the point it ended up having a huge fanbase and it spawned a franchise that involved novels and multiple spin-offs including the upcoming The Winchesters.
The Winchesters Season 2 Release Date
There is no knowledge or news about when will Season 2 come out as the first season was just released on October 11th. But with the gripping plotline and popularity of the previous series, it’s a possibility that the series will be renewed for a second season soon.

The Winchesters Season 2 story
While it’s unknown what the story of Season 2 is since it hasn’t been renewed yet, we will talk about what the upcoming first season is about.
Season 1 focuses on the younger versions of John and Mary Winchester, the parents of Dean and Sam Winchester, and how these two got together and set a path for their sons.
The series is set in the 1970s and will be narrated by Dean Winchester. John is a young Vietnam War veteran who just returned from the war and questions his life’s purpose, especially after the death of his father. He then ends up meeting Mary Campbell, a fellow hunter, who changes his perception as he helps her in fighting a demon.
From there on, they team up in fighting various creatures they come across and try to solve the various mysteries around their lineage.
It’s also possible that the series will also answer some questions about John and Mary’s past some of which were a mystery in the original series.
The Winchesters Season 2 Format
The Winchesters will focus on the earlier adventures of John and his wife Mary. Jensen Ackles who portrayed Dean will also reprise his role this time as the narrator of the series and will be it’s an executive producer as well. He said that the series will be close to the original and will connect some of the key moments in the timeline of the original in order to make it more accurate and connect to the original. Each episode every week will see Mary and John fighting different monsters and each of the secrets about their past will be slowly revealed, especially their connection to their present life in the original.
The Winchesters Season 2 Cast
For now, the cast of Season 1 includes the main leads Meg Donnelly (Zombies) as Mary Campbell and newcomer Drake Rodger (The Inbetween) as John Winchester.
Other supporting cast members include Bianca Kajilich (Rules of Engagement), Demetria McKinney (Motherland: Fort Salem), Nida Kurshid as Latika Desai, Jojo Fleites as Carlos Cervantez and Tom Welling as Sam Campbell.
Jensen Ackles will be reprising his role from the original series as Sam Winchester, but this time as the narrator of the series, telling us who his parents were.
