Based on a Japanese light novel series, “How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom” is an anime show directed by Takashi Watanabe. The original novels were written and illustrated by Dojyomaru and Fuyuyuki respectively. The light novel series has a total of 18 volumes and was adapted for an anime TV series by Overlap. The announcement was made on 17th April 2020. The anime series is produced by  J. C. Staff whereas the scripts are written by Go Zappa and Hiroshi Onogi. The rating for this series on IMDb is 7.1/10 and 83% of the google users seem to like the show. The series was licensed outside of Asia by Funimation whereas, in Southeast Asia, it streamed on iQIYI and Bilibili.

The first batch, also labeled as part one, has a total of 13 episodes. They aired on BS11 and Tokyo MX on 26th September 2021. For the first part of this series, the intro song is called “Hello Horizon” by Inori Minase while the ending theme song is “Kazanear” by Aimi. The second part of How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom was released on 9th January 2022. “Real-Eyes” by Inori Minase plays as the intro song for part 2 while “Lights” by Aimi is the ending theme. The schedule for the first five episodes of this part is set until 6th February 2022.

The trailer for the second part of How a Realist Hero Rebuilt The Kingdom was released on 18th November 2021 and the first episode premiered just recently. There will be 13 episodes in this part. The creators and production department is still deciding on whether there will be a part 3 or season 2 of How a Realist Hero Rebuilt The Kingdom. There is no update regarding the next release dates. However, if there is a season 2, the story will follow the adventures of Kazuya Souma along with Liscia Alfrieden and their friends.

The production has released the schedule for the first five episodes of the second part. The first episode aired on 9th January 2022. The first episode is titled “Amidonia in a Lion’s Skin”. The next episode, “To Result in Close Friend” is set to release on 16th January 2022. “Snake Shadow in the Cup”, which will air as the fifth episode of the series, will be released on 6th February 2022. The schedule after this is yet to be announced.

How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom was initially started as a web light novel in 2014. However, due to some technical issues, the first volume was officially published in 2016 by Overlap Bunko. The English translations were published in 2017. As of now, there have been a total of 16 volumes released. They were also adapted as manga comics which have 8 volumes. 

The story of the anime is based on the manga version and revolves around the character named Kazuya Souma. When he is called into a fantasy world, he is betrothed to the princess and made the new king. Now he starts working on the ways to rule a kingdom full of fantastical creatures like elves and dragons.
