Another notable twist in the story was Emily being brutally tortured and raped by her beloved. But during the grasping climax of Fair Play, we see how Emily starts taking charge of the whole situation. This was quite necessary for her to prove to Luke that she was not at all scared of losing him. When she returned home, Luke was all ready to fly off to San Francisco. And to her surprise, Luke was leaving without feeling the guilt of his act. And that’s when she felt the urge to do something to make him realise his faults. Frustrated and angry, she grabs the sharp knife and forces him to get on his knees! This was her time to show that she was no longer willing to be manipulated by him. As a result, Luke ends up begging and crying in front of Emily. She did forgive him but we also saw how Luke accepted his culpability! Eventually, he did realise that Emily was not at all liable for the downfall of his career.
