Is The Afterparty Season 3 Release Date Confirmed By Apple TV+?

The Afterparty is a murder mystery anthology series developed by Christopher Miller with Anthony King and Phil Lord for Apple TV+. The series follows a millennial whodunnit trope with everyone sans the dynamic Detective Danner herself. It commenced with a reunion party that went wrong and now has become a locked-door murder mystery drama. With Prime Video’s reunion went wrong series, Class of 07 Apple TV+, too, invested heavily in The Afterparty. However, under Miller’s directorial guidance, the series became much more multilayered than initially expected.

Currently, in its second season, the thriller drama is already garnering questions regarding the third instalment in the series. Fans are left wondering whether The Afterparty Season 3 release date is confirmed by Apple TV+. So, if you, too, belong to this curious clan, waste not a second and dive in!

The Afterparty Season 3 Release Date

With eight episodes to its name, The Afterparty debuted on January 28, 2022, and commenced on a happy note on March 4, 2022. The makers and the streaming host confirmed the renewal of a sequel by the end of March which premiered on July 12, 2023. Similar to its predecessor, the series is scheduled for a weekly release with eighteen episodes to its name. The finale is expected to knock the mysterious criminal out on September 6, 2023. With the timespan remaining for the last episode, rushing for a release date for The Afterparty Season 3 doesn’t seem to be a sensible choice.

Though Apple TV+ is yet to confirm the renewal of Season 3, the cast members have already hinted at a third part of the series. The Internet is awash with rumours suggesting that the production for a third season has already begun. Since there is no evidence to back up these rumours, nothing can be said for sure. If approved, The Afterparty Season 3 is expected to premiere in mid-2024.

The Afterparty Series Overview

The series is led by a savvy escape room designer, Aniq Adjaye (Sam Richardson) and his high-school crush, Zoë Zhu (Zoë Chao). She has recently divorced her firefighter husband, Brett and resides with her daughter. When their paths clash at the reunion party in Marin County, spark flies but it isn’t the kind that they expected. At this unique reunion, a pop star Xavier is found dead and each member of the party is a potential killer. Detective Danner (Tiffany Haddish) is assigned Xavier’s case and the prime suspect becomes Aniq, who specializes in escape room creation and design.

As the investigation moves forward with each suspect being interrogated in separate episodes, Zoë and Aniq start reconciling. The boundaries become blurred but the blood stains remain prominent. The Afterparty Season 1 puts the couple to the test by staging evidence against each other and burdening their relationship through these shreds of evidence.

The Afterparty Season 3 Plot

Yet, despite the oppressive weight, their relationship survives the dilemma. But it seems like mysteries and corpses are written in the cards for them. After Zoë and Aniq confess their feelings towards each other, they are invited to one more party. Zoë’s sister, Grace (Poppy Liu) is marrying Edgar Minnows (Zach Woods) and the duo are called to accompany them. However, just a day after the wedding ordeal, Edgar is found soaked in his blood. Danner is once again called to investigate the murder mystery but this time, it is Zoë’s sister who becomes the primary suspect.

Since each season of The Afterparty revolves around a different murder mystery, the upcoming season is expected to follow the same storyline. As Anna Knonkle, who portrays Hannah, Edgar’s adopted sister mentioned, she is looking forward to a funeral murder mystery. Though it isn’t yet confirmed, The Afterparty Season 3 could focus majorly on a funeral murder mystery.
