Doctor Cha Episode 4 Recap And Ending Explained: Jung-Sook Stumbles Down Once Again, This Time In Astonishment!

Another day, another episode and another heart-wrenching shock await Jung-Sook. Netflix’s weekly medical drama, Doctor Cha, premiered the fourth episode just a while ago. And ain’t it a slow walk to the ultimate destruction? Or in Jung-Sook’s case, it would be bliss. All those who are new to this K-drama and to everyone who has been continuing to watch the series with me will have to agree this is one phenomenal episode. Not without its drawbacks but brimming with enthralling scenes, Doctor Cha is back!

The series focuses mainly on Cha Jung-Sook’s journey from getting out of the confines of her home to the busy ambience of a hospital. That is not to say that the series doesn’t let us have a glimpse into the lives of other cast members. In fact, this medical drama–especially the episode–has a lot of story arcs, so you better buckle up before you dive into this Doctor Cha Episode 4 recap and ending explained!

Doctor Cha Episode 4 Recap

The last episode took Jung-Sook on her first official after-work party as an intern at Gusan University Hospital. Jung-Sook, her husband, In-Ho, and her son, Jung-Min were entangled in a complex situation with the rest of the crew unaware of Jung-Sook being In-Ho’s wife. Suddenly when a fellow colleague turns towards Jung-Sook and asks her about her husband, all eyes are on her. The most inquisitive orbs are of none other than the American surgeon, Dr Roy Kim, and of course, In-Ho and his girlfriend, Seung-Hee.

Copping out of the situation, Jung-Sook declares her husband to be long dead. In-Ho chokes on his beer and Kim nearly bursts into laughter while Seung-Hee and Jung-Min are shocked to silence. What follows is even more interesting!

As everyone walks out of the karaoke bar after Kim and Jung-Sook have sung their hearts out, Jung-Sook turns her hopeful eyes towards her son for a ride home. He denies her claiming that he is staying at the resident dorms and In-Ho creeps his way out of the situation using his favourite weapon–utter silence. That’s when Kim makes a grand entry on his sports bike and gives Jung-Sook a chance to breathe wholly after 20 years. A cliche concept but still as prominent!

Experience Does Matter, Dedication Isn’t Enough

Doctor Cha Episode 4 Recap And Ending Explained

The duo stops by a local park after Jung-Sook gets nauseous and enjoys a peaceful time together. Oh, how I wish the moment would have extended longer since that was the last moment of peace for Jung-Sook–at least for this episode. Back at home, Jung-Sook writes her daughter, Yi-Rang, a heart-touching letter asking her to support her and encourage her. Indeed, a heart-touching moment.

But then, the next morning, Jung-Sook finds herself lacking behind everyone. Be it convincing a patient to treat or treating one, Jung-Sook’s inexperience weighs down on her. She constantly needs to rely on her son for guidance, who gets extremely frustrated after Jung-Sook has called him over a hundred times. Jung-Min isn’t wrong at all and while Jung-Sook knows it, she can’t help but feel inferior and violent rage.

In-Ho Is A Ball Of Jealousy

Talking about feelings, Jung-Sook and Kim’s growing closeness has started to make In-Ho feel jealous. After the bike ride, Jung-Sook brings lunch for her son. But Jung-Min’s girlfriend eats it all, leaving Jung-Sook frustrated. Since she is a senior and Jung-Min’s girlfriend, Jeon So-Ra, everyone is quiet. That is not the case with In-Ho though, no one ignores him. Be it the staff members or In-Ho, Kim stands out like a sore thumb because of his personality and nationality.

To In-Ho, Kim isn’t just another doctor. Kim has sparked Seung-Hee’s interest and is bonding with Jung-Sook. Now, In-Ho is overly bothered by it but he is still the same jerk as always. When Jung-Sook calls him for help, he declines. But when she is with Kim, he is suddenly jealous. He could have a girlfriend but Jung-Sook isn’t allowed to have a decent friend–even if there is chemistry sizzling between them, he doesn’t know it. Talk about double standards.

Doctor Cha Episode 4 Ending: The Episode Is Brimming With Revelations

Doctor Cha Episode 4 Recap And Ending Explained

It is time to reveal the truth unveiled in Doctor Cha Episode 4 ending! Beginning with Roy drives to an orphanage of sorts and gets lost in his past. In the previous episodes, Kim did hint at being adopted but then he backed it with a light joke and his words lost weight. Now, as Roy, flips through the journal, his words echo in the background–hypothetically, of course. He was abandoned by his parents and later “found” by his adoptive parents. This is not the most emotional moment of the episode but the second best.

The next revelation is regarding Jung-Sook’s mother, Deok-Rye. As Jung-Sook’s mother-in-law, Ae-Sim comes across Deok-Rye, she accuses her of being obnoxious as Deok-Rye is preparing for botox. Deok-Rye weaves her way out of it and Ae-Sim leaves, she asks the dermatologist, Mi-Hee, who also happens to be Jung-Sook’s best friend about the mark on her back. Mi-Hee recommends Deok-Rye perform a test which could prove whether Deok-Rye is suffering from cancer or not. Another shocking truth, ain’t it? As Deok-Rye gets out, she spots Ae-Sim with a man and here comes one more twist.

Back to Jung-Sook, as she goes through the household chores, she finds a receipt for an expensive bracelet in In-Ho’s jacket. After questioning Ae-Sim, Jung-Sook confronts In-Ho and demands the truth for the first time. Being the cunning manipulator he is, In-Ho uses Jung-Sook’s upcoming birthday as an excuse. Jung-Sook is delirious initially but later, at the hospital, her ecstasy is crushed. As Jung-Sook perform CPR and assists in reviving a person, she notices the same bracelet on Seung-Hee’s wrist. She stumbles down and falls unconscious, leaving us to anticipate Doctor Cha Episode 5.
