Documentaries perhaps deal with pain more closely than any other genre of films. This is not to say that documentaries can only depict sad stories. However, seldom do we see the story of another family’s happiness. Perhaps our society reflects that documentaries are almost always used for the sake of creating noise around a subject. Sometimes for profit. Other times for drawing the necessary light towards a subject. Whenever given the job, documentaries succeed in bringing a message to the forefront. Just a few years an Indian documentary on women’s condition during menstruation had received an Oscar.
Knowing that the story behind the screen is the life of a real person cultivates empathy that can not be compared. People relate to the story of a real person more than that of a fictional character. The Pharmacist is an attempt driven by the same thought.
The documentary crime series makes use of emotions to narrate a gripping story of a pharmacist who is driven by the desire to find the criminal of his son. The series is a production of The Cinemart. It is also available for streaming on Netflix. Since the story is about a father’s love for his son, the audience relates to it. The series in parts also reminds one of the 2008 Indian crime thriller, A Wednesday where a common man goes on to take extreme action to avenge the death of his son.
The Pharmacist Season 2 Release Date
The first season of the 3 hours 37 minutes long documentary was released on the 5th of February 2020. It’s been 2 years since the release of the first season and rumors around the second season are in full swing. The first season had a total of 4 episodes. Each episode of the season had a run time of around 47 to 60 minutes.
The series received an IMDb rating of 7.7. Since the reviews were rave and the series was also loved and appreciated by the audience, it was expected that the makers will soon come up with a second season. Considering the fact that documentaries are usually not stretched for seasons and the fact that if a season 2 was in the making, an official announcement would have been made. It is highly improbable that season 2 of The Pharmacist will release.

The Pharmacist Season 2 Story
The story of the Jenner Furst and Julia Willoughby Nason directorial follows the undying efforts of Dan Schneide, a pharmacist and activist. The story is set in Poydras, Louisiana. The series shows the complete story of the killing if Daniel and the subsequent investigation conducted by his father, Dan.
Dan was only a common man before the death of his son. Like the man in ‘A Wednesday,’ the father becomes the flag bearer of social justice post losing a dead one. This is a stark reminder of the fact that we can be super insensitive until something influences our lives or the lives of those we love. It’s perfectly fine that youngsters consume drugs uncontrollably or they are sold illegally as long as our children stay away from it. We fail to understand that it is only too soon that these matters will someway or the other creep into our houses.
The story is set in the year 1999. Dan had to step in when the police refused to take up the case of his son dismissing him another man involved with the illegal sales of drugs. His investigation leads him to a big corporate. Now Dan must risk his life in order to save the lives of thousands of other kids who are innocent victims like his son. The story makes for an intriguing watch as we find out whether Dan succeeds in his mission or the corporate world silences him, too.
