Inspired by the true events, the creators decided to adapt the incidents into a film.

You must know about Bob Marley. His real name was Robert Nesta Marley. He was a famous singer from Jamaica. Remastered: Who Shot The Sheriff? is a movie that centres around the attempt to assassinate Bob Marley.

This incident took place on 3rd December 1976. Bob Marley was in Kingston, Jamaica. He was yet to perform in a concert that would be filled with around 80,000 people. He was invited by the then Prime Minister of Jamaica Michael Manley to perform in Kingston. This concert was organized to stabilize the turbulent atmosphere of Jamaica. However, just two days before the concert, a group of assailants tried to shoot Bob Marley. Although, the bullets did not kill or gravely harm Marley, his wife, Rita and manager Don Taylor were heavily injured. Based on this particular incident, the creators made the docu-film Remastered: Who Shot The Sheriff?

Reason Behind The Attempt To Assassinate!

Why was Bob Marley attacked? Well, Jamaica was going through a lot during that time. The atmosphere of Jamaica was politically unstable. Mobs were on the rise. There was an ongoing rivalry between the Jamaica Labor Party and People’s National Party. Michael Manley and Edward Saega were against each other and were at each other’s throat. Some even suspect that the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) was a part of this entire scenario.

In order to stabilize the entire situation, Manley organized the concert of Bob Marley. However, some of the fascists did not like that. They resorted to attacks. The mobs attacked anybody who tried to engage with the internal politics, and Bob Marley was one of them. They thought that Bob Marley was trying to poke his nose into the internal politics of the country, therefore, they tried to kill Bob Marley. It was only a warning though. They did not kill Bob Marley. It was a warning that Bob Marley should stay out of politics.
