It aired between 1986 and 1990 in Japan on the TBS channel and has propelled the genre’s growth immensely. Several variations, spin-offs and revivals have flourished in the past decades, with every country including the United States, Italy and India boasting their own versions. Takeshi’s Castle arrived in India in 2005 via the Pogo TV channel and became an instant hit. Now, after more than a decade, the game show was commissioned for a revival, which aired on November 2.

He acknowledged that Jafferi has played a pivotal role in making the show legendary. “It’s truly an honour to receive wishes from someone as iconic and versatile as Jaaved Jafferi, especially for a show as legendary as Takeshi’s Castle. Jaaved sir’s association with the show is etched in its history, and I’m humbled to get this opportunity to do the new season in my style. His congratulatory message on social media meant the world to me,” the comedian mentioned.

Reportedly, Bhuvan spent over four months mastering the script and adding his personal touch to elevate the show. The revived game show is heavily influenced by his whimsical comments and rib-tickling humour. It garnered millions of views and even now, after a month since its airing, Takeshi’s Castle continues to be one of the most-watched series on Prime Video. The eight-episode series features a vibrant cast and an even more boisterous host, who expressed his wish to propagate the show to a younger audience. “I am hopeful that the younger generation will love this show as much as we did,” Bhuvan expressed his wish in the same interview.

Since the creators have succeeded in portraying a relatable, humorous and entertaining series, a sequel definitely seems in the row. If Prime Video greenlights it soon, Takeshi’s Castle India Season 2 can premiere in late 2024.
