Helmed by Umut Aral, Who Were We Running From premiered on Netflix on March 24, 2023. It is adapted from a novel by Perihan Mağdenb that originally translates to “Who Were We Running From, Mom?”. The title aptly describes the essence of the series but for some mysterious reason, the creators trimmed the last word from the title. Nonetheless, the gist of the story remains the same.

Who Were We Running From Series Overview
As I mentioned above, Who Were We Running From is centred around a mother-daughter duo on a run. Tumbar plays the role of an innocent teenager, Bambi, while Melisa takes on the role of the unnamed mother. When Mother falls in love with a mere car mechanic, her aristocratic family gets on the defence. Though it is uncertain, the show hints at Mother being betrayed by her family and boyfriend. She turns into a fugitive and the mother-daughter duo are left to meander on their own.
Bouncing from one luxurious hotel to another, and dealing with several backstabbers, they try to survive their atrocious family. However, in the end, Mother’s affluent family gets what they want. Police have been investigating the ongoing murders in the town and traced them back to Mother who recently flew with Bambi to Greece. Despite being a fugitive and excellent fighter, Mother surrenders to the police’s wrath to save Bambi who is left alone after her mother’s death with a pile of cash.
Who Were We Running From Season 2 Plot
Since Mother is now dead, it is only Bambi who could carry on the show–if it is approved. Mother stabbed her father in a fit of rage before surrendering to the police, opening the doors to a myriad of questions. Bambi’s grandmother could set out to destroy her with even more passion due to their recent loss. A young and lonely fugitive targeted by her aristocratic yet atrocious family can definitely constitute a gripping premise.
Since the makers haven’t yet confirmed the revival of the series nothing could be said for sure and Bambi’s future remains uncertain. It is also possible that the creators would introduce Bambi’s father or Mother’s associate to help her deal with her distorted life. In the end, I and you could only construct a hypothesis.
