Marriage is one of the sacred bonds. It is considered to be so. People who are tied up by the relationship of marriage have to take up vows as you already know. One of the vows includes that you will stand by your partner at all times. Such a vow has been carried out by Noyonika Sengupta when her husband gets apprehended. The new Hotstar show The Trial touches upon this. Is The Trial based on a true story? What do you know about it? We are here to provide you with all the important news regarding the latest show.
Is The Trial Based On A True Story?
Set to be released on 14th July, The Trial has already received its poster and its trailer. It is the first OTT show of Kajol, and we cannot wait to see her as Noyonika Sengupta. Before discussing the story of the show, let us first get to know if the series is based on true incidents or not. Since this is a political drama it is natural for people to think that may probably be based on a real-life story. Nevertheless, that may not be the case all the time.
The Trial is not based on a real-life incident. Do not be disappointed because this is not the end of the story. Even if it is not based on a true incident, it is based on a Hollywood show: The Good Wife. The Good Wife was a CBS production of 2009. The show ran till 2016, and people have immensely loved the show. Based on the plotline that The Good Wife followed, The Trial has been made. However, to how much extent The Trial has been inspired by The Good Wife is not yet known. We will know the details once the show gets released.
Therefore, it can be concluded that even if The Trial is not based on a real-life incident, it is based on the Hollywood series that has been mentioned. In an interview Kajol mentioned that she found the character of Noyonika Sengupta relevant to herself, therefore she decided to take up the role as soon as it was offered to her. We already saw Kajol in the Netflix movie Tribhanga, now we are going to see her return as a master actress in the show The Trial. To be very honest, we are extremely excited to witness Kajol on the screens once again.
The Trial Story
The Trial follows an extremely interesting story of how a woman takes the steering wheel of her life once her husband gets removed from the picture. As mentioned in the introduction, marriage also has an important role to play in the series.
The plot revolves around the protagonist Noyonika Sengupta. She is the wife of Rajeev Sengupta who is an important public figure. Tied in the sacred bond of marriage, their marriage is not as sacred as society holds it to be. Rajeev is promiscuous, and he has been involved in sexual acts with several women.
Being a public figure, it is completely unacceptable for Rajeev to carry out such an obscene and shameful act. Hence, he gets arrested leaving his wife Noyonika and his children behind. However, Noyonika is not a lady who will sit quietly without taking any action. It is now her time to wear the seat belt and take the driver’s seat. She put her law degree to use and gets appointed to a firm as a junior lawyer.
