Marvel DC and its stunning collection of superheroes never get old, does it? Be it Batman, Superman or the Titans, DC has a superhero we all relate to–or at least we are fond of. Manifested by Geoff Johns, Akiva Goldsman and Greg Berlanti for Marvel Studios, Marvel’s Titans follows a group of teenagers who have taken on them to save the world. It doesn’t come off as a surprise that Teen Titans received a stellar response from the viewers, the relatable characters and Marvel’s popular cat-mouse chase.
When Bruce Wayne, the infamous Batman, adopted the trapeze artist Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) aka Nightwing, he didn’t realize he was helping a new superhero bloom. But it happened nonetheless. Grayson joined forces with Kory Anders aka Starfire (Anna Diop) and other Titans to save Gotham City. Sadly, the journey of these Titans climaxes with Titans Season 4.
DC Titans Season 5 Release Date
Showrunner Greg Walker and the series protagonist, Thwaites, tread Titans with the dark universe and fragile relationships. Titans is adapted from a comic entitled Teen Titans and is the first fantasy thriller centred wholly around teenage superheroes. Though Grayson and all the other teens have now transformed into somewhat mature adults, they still manage to lure us with their tight-knit bond. Oh, yes, the notorious DC Villains Mother Mayhem, Brother Blood and others are here to test Titans to their full extent.
The unfortunate news is that HBO has cancelled DC Season 5. James Gunn, the CEO of Warner Bros, took to Twitter to announce the cancellation of DC Season 5. Though the reason is yet to be specified, it is believed that it is because of Gunn and Peter Safran–the new CEOs of Warner Bros.–that the future of Titans is crushed. But Gunn has already specified that Titans Season 5 was cancelled long before he and Safran took over. What’s the real reason behind the cancellation then?
Can DC Titans Season 4 Rating Revive The Series?
When it comes to cancellations of popular series, there needs to be a concrete reason. It could either be poor ratings, low performance or worn-out source material. Considering the first of these options, DC’s Titan does not suffer through the whiplash of extensive criticism. However, it did go through some mild snide remarks but that’s a given, isn’t it?
Low performance? Well, not exactly. Titans Season 4 might not be a blockbuster season but it did garner a respectable amount of viewers who appreciated the series’ focus on strengthening the Titans’ bonds. It seems like the answer is the worn-out source material. The makers do not wish to extend the universe of Titan. Rather they are channelling their energy toward the long list of upcoming fantasy series they have curated. So, it seems like the ratings of Season 4 wouldn’t be able to revive Season 5 and maybe, it is for a greater benefit.
What’s Next For DC?
Now that the Titans have bid goodbye to us, we are all left wondering what’s next for DC, aren’t we? The new commanders of Warner Bros. might have cancelled Titans Season 5 but they have greenlit many other movies and series to help expand the DC universe. Joining the first one on the list is The Flash scheduled for a June 23, 2023 release. The project began in early 2015 and now almost after a decade and hundreds of development changes, Batman and Supergirl are arriving with The Flash.
Showcasing the first Latino superhero, Blue Beetle is set to arrive on our screens on August 18, 2023. So far, no DC superhero is announced to be in the cast. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be bidding this year goodbye and will release on Christmas Eve, Dember 25, 2023. It is scheduled for a theatrical release and serves as the sequel to 2018’s Aquaman. This movie, too, went through a bit of trouble through Warner Bros. but eventually has been greenlit. Not Titans Season 5 but there are a few enticing names to look out for in the DC Universe!
