It began with a dark curse and a deadly mission to save Will Turner’s love, Elizabeth, from the immoral pirates. Captain Jack Sparrow collaborated with Turner to exert revenge on Barbossa, Jack’s former friend who left him stranded on the island. A fantasy tale and a deadly battle ensue. Since then, Jack kept fighting against several people including Lord Cutler Beckett for owning Dead Man’s Chest. Be it freeing a goddess or leading a crew, Jack is capable of everything, he is indeed the master of the sea and the face of the franchise.
He is a goofy kind of pirate that is skilled to break curses, navigating through the stormiest nights and often ends up being more bland than the rest of the pirates. In Pirates Of The Caribbean 5, Sparrow has once again proved himself to be a one-man show and stopped Captain Armando Salazar from killing the entire pirate community. Now, the sixth instalment does not have any cliffhangers to elaborate on. The makers would have to come up with something original and intriguing enough.
Pirates Of The Caribbean Review: An Adventurous Saga Too Redundant To Care About
The fantasy element of the show enunciated by the story developers, Ted Elliot and teams, is quite fascinating. Be it the long-lost tressure or putting Jack into a complicated situation with his past, the storyline is worth considering the movie to be interesting. But what is promised is not delivered. The story appears to be grand on paper but when it comes to executing it, the saga becomes too redundant. I understand this is Jack Sparrow’s story but surely other characters deserve to be more than sidelined each time.
The character development is another issue all of the critics–me included–have with this Disney drama. Jack is still the same person from 2003 with his bland personality and childish demeanour. For a franchise that is accoladed to be one of the highest-grossing film sagas out there, Pirates Of The Caribbean does not deserve more than 6.5 on 10.
