The forthcoming black comedy-drama film Darlings is financed by Gauri Khan and Alia Bhatt ( debut production) and Gaurav Verma under the brands of Red Chillies Entertainment & Eternal Sunshine Productions. It was co-written & directed by Jasmeet K Reen in her directorial debut. Bhatt, Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma, and Roshan Mathew play the leading characters in the movie. It will premiere on Netflix on August 5, 2022.
The movie examines the lives of a humorous mother-daughter pair who, despite navigating through extraordinary situations, find strength and love as they seek their way in the world. It is associated with the nature of a conservative lower-middle-class area in Mumbai.
When the picture was first officially announced in March 2021, it was revealed that Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma, and Roshan Mathew had joined the cast. Gauri Khan, Gaurav Verma, and Bhatt served as the film’s producers under their respective production companies, Red Chillies Entertainment and Eternal Sunshine Productions. Bhatt’s first producing endeavour is the movie. The following month, it was stated that Gulzar and Vishal Bhardwaj had agreed to work together on the soundtrack for the film, with the former writing the songs and the latter composing the score.
