Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Sotsu is a Japanese murder mystery and psychological horror drama series. Higurashi began as a gameplay franchise by 07th Expansion, which later on got the manga series by Ryukishi07. After that, Studio Deen has released four anime series and four OVA series. The anime television series is written by Toshifumi Kawase in the direction of Chiaki Kon.
Higurashi Season 3 Release Date
Let me clear you first: Just don’t confuse the release dates of seasons and OVAs. Season 1 of the series ran from April 5, 2006, to September 27, 2006, with a total of 26 episodes and Season 2 ran from July 7, 2007, to December 18, 2007, which comprises 24 episodes. After that, five episodes of 20 to 25 minutes long OVA’s sequel series got released which ran from February 25, 2009, to August 21, 2009. The series got released on a number of channels including Chiba TV, Kansai TV, and Tokai TV. The entire anime series is based on a novel series and got a huge and positive response from the audience.
As it has now been a long time since the release of season 2, there are no updates of season 3. As both the seasons received a huge critical response from the fans, there is a chance that the series can renew for its next season. But, we cannot make any guesses till the real announcement is made by the makers. Well, we can just hope for the next season and wait for it.

Higurashi Season 2 Story
The plot of the series revolves around Keiichi Maryada, who moves to a tiny and peaceful village in the year 1983. He soon makes very close and dear friends in the school in which he got admission, including Rena Ryuuguu, Mion Sonozaki, Rika Furude, and Satoko Houjou. But soon, his life turns into a very dark path, and everything is changes. The village prepares an annual function every year, and every person was very excited about it. Keiichi was also very excited but, he learns something strange which forces him to think. He got to know that in recent years several deaths and disappearances of people occurred which somehow is linked to the annual function.
He tries to know more about it from his friends, but no one was ready to tell him exactly the truth behind it. He got into bizarre situations and confusion started making their path into his life. He was then left with nothing and no choice but to face everything. From then onwards, he decided to unravel the mystery and to go deep into it.
Higurashi Season 3 Characters
Keiichi Maryada, who is the son of a very well-known artist and is forced to move to the village of Hinamizawa after a series of unfortunate events in his own hometown. He is cheerful, lively and is a good friend. These qualities help him to make new and close friends very easily. He is a man having dark blue eyes with light brown hair and is described as charming. Rika Furude is one of the friends Keiichi, but a great friend of Satoko. She likes describing situations using sound effects and describing them with perfection.
Satoko Houjou is one of the members of the friend’s group, having a very weird habit of ending all of her sentences with ‘wa ‘. She is one of the energetic and cheerful personalities who always set traps for others, especially Keiichi. Although, with such a personality and smile on her face, she hides the pain and secret of her abusive childhood. She has big deep purple eyes with blonde hair and is colorblind who fails to differentiate between cauliflower and broccoli.
