Is Saw X Based On A True Story?

This movie is halfway the truth or we could say that it is partially based on a true story. Not the whole movie’s story is real but the character is real. We will talk about it in the article following. But the bottom line is that this movie is not fully based on a true story. But some incidents shown in these Saw movies have happened for real. This Saw franchise has always entertained the audience with action and a great story. It is all because of the writers of the movies that have made these movies look like real ones.

There is a killer very similar to the one shown in the movie. This killer captivated a man named Brian Wells and tortured him for his life. There was a bomb around his neck which would explode if he didn’t complete the tasks given to him. One of the tasks included robbing a bank. Brian was arrested by police but by the time the bomb squad arrived, it had exploded. This killed Brian and the killer escaped. These movies of the Saw franchise have inspired many people which makes it a true story.

What Is Interesting About The Jigsaw Killer?

This killer has been inspired by a real-life event witnessed by the writer of the movie. Leigh Whannell has written three Saw movies and also has acted in the first film itself. He had a real-life experience which inspired him for John Kramer’s character in the movie. It was when he was suffering from severe migraine pain and went to the hospital for an MRI scan. From here the initial concept for the Jigsaw killer developed and the Saw movie’s main villain emerged. This is what we see in the movie: the killer is told he is going to die of a terminal illness. Also, the killer named Zep was inspired by a James Wan read. Zep broke into people’s houses at night to tickle their feet.

However, Wan doesn’t give the exact date and location of this man. But there are many incidents related to the “serial tickler” when you search on Google. However, the man was caught soon by the police and when he was asked he said that he did it as someone else instructed him. Wan shared that he was very terrified after hearing this case so he slept with a hammer by his side.

What About The Spiral And The Characters Of The Movie?

Like the movies, the spiral is also not one hundred per cent authentic. But many related themes are inspired by the real life. Police abusing their power in the United States has happened for real since a long time. So the real-life events of police brutality have been shown perfectly in the movie. As the starting movies were towards real-life events so are the later movies against it. This franchise started with movies which were based on a true story in real life to later movies which are fictional and not reality is there.

Characters also didn’t do their part with much dedication as before in these movies. James Wan directed only the first part of the franchise and later on shifted to the producer’s seat.  So it wasn’t the same thing when he was a director and when he became a producer. After the first part, nothing remained the same and the franchise shifted away from reality. So when anyone has a query about the reality of the movie, we could say that it has been inspired by true events and not based on a true story.
