Sintonia Season 4 Ending Explained: Is Scheyla Released From Prison? Who Betrayed Nando?

Led by Sócrates’s star, Christian Malheiros, Sintonia is a popular Brazilian crime drama. Initially, it was released under the teen drama genre but with the character development, I personally cannot call it a teen drama anymore. Rather, Netflix’s Sintonia has evolved into a tapestry of religious beliefs, struggles of adulthood, friendship issues and criminal conspiracies. The series revolves around three tight-knit friends from São Paulo who grew up in the favela with nothing but themselves to hold onto. While Luiz Fernando “Nando” Silvo (Malheiros) is a drug kingpin, Donizete “Doni” Santana da Costa (Jottapê) is a funk rapper and Rita (Bruna Mascarenhas) is a religious Catholic.

The three of them have distinct personalities that are united by their immense devotion towards each other. For the past three seasons, Sintonia has been throwing us in a loop of friendships, relationship dilemmas and criminal activities. Sintonia Season 4 is no different either. It is brimming with betrayals, intense emotions and the power of love. Also, a myriad of questions I’ll be answering here!

Sintonia Season 4 Recap

The series is directed by KondXilla and Jonny Araújo and written by a stellar team of Guilherme Quintella, Duda de Almeida and Thays Berbe. Similar to its previous seasons, Sintonia Season 4 commences with a commotion and an astounding bang, addressing the cliffhangers left by Season 3. Nando has been trying to leave the life of crime for a while but his bosses always intercept him and pull his shackles tight. All Nando wants is to live a normal life with his wife, Scheyla (Julia Yamaguchi) and their kids.

However, even after dealing with the likes of druglords, Nando’s dream remains out of reach. As everyone gathers for the opening of Nando’s aesthetic cafe, the place is infiltrated with armed goons. Cue gun firings, blood and chaos. Oh, and deaths, too. Nando’s men succeed in putting down these armed men, believing them to be police officers and rushing their boss into a chopper. Though Nando is severely injured, his wounds are nowhere close to Doni’s who has a bullet lodged in his waist.

As Nando flies out of town, Rita rushes Doni into a hospital and prays for his recovery throughout the ride. Meanwhile, the police officers arrest Scheyla instead of Nando, alleging her for being a part of the Organization.

Who Betrayed Nando?

The news of Scheyla’s arrest spreads like wildfire and threatens to burn Nando’s resolve in turn. He is laying low until he is fit enough to deal with the circumstances but with each passing second, he’s being tormented by his wife’s muffled screams. It is only a matter of days before Nando calls his right-hand man, Pulga, and they embark on a mission to avenge the attack. Fueled by rage and misery, Nando tries everything to get Scheyla out of prison.

His interactions with Doni are limited due to the growing rift between them but he makes sure Scheyla has a phone at her disposal. Nando arranges a doppelganger to take Scheyla’s place in the prison but at the end moment, things go down south and the woman chickens out. On the other hand, the officers find Scheyla’s phone and forbid her from having any visitors over. Moreover, she is placed in a solitary cell for almost a month.

Distorted, Nando focuses his entire energy on discovering the mole who snitched on him. According to a tip, the man who betrayed Nando is bald. Naturally, he believes it to be his teammate, Bada, but is soon convinced that he is not the one. It is his business partner, Messinho, who betrayed Nando to make an example out of him. Nobody leaves the syndicate, especially not a black boy with no resources according to Messinho.

Sintonia Season 4 Ending Explained: Is Scheyla Released From Prison?

After Scheyla is shifted back to the normal cell, Rita juggles her way into the prison. She agrees to help Nando take Scheyla out of prison to reunite her with her kids. Nando stages an elaborate plan again to abduct Scheyla when she is transported to a sewing workshop. However, after considering her senior’s advice, Rita backs out at the last moment to save Nando from attacking the prison and the law.

Eventually, Nando has only one option left and he wastes no time trading himself for his wife. Throughout the eight-part series, Nando has been striving to do justice to Scheyla. At the end of Sintonia Season 4, Scheyla is released from prison but Nando is arrested.

Does Nando Become A Snitch For The Government?

As the crime novels and films portray, no criminal would willingly get himself arrested if not for a solid motive. After celebrating one last night with his best friends, Doni and Rita, Nando arranges a sort of deal with the government. Rita’s new friend and a senior lawyer, Williams, help Nando get in touch with the government. They stage Nando’s arrest, making sure to not let it slip up that he surrendered.

Nando trades himself for his wife and succumbs to the police officers’ demands but he doesn’t agree to become a snitch. When he is presented with such an opportunity, he clearly refuses. As the credits roll down for Sintonia Season 4, Nando picks up his phone and calls Pulga with a fire burning in his eyes.

Season 5, maybe?
