Delete Season 1 Ending Explained: Why Did Too Erase Thong?

In an alternate universe demonstrated by Netflix’s latest Thai thriller, a magical phone holds the ability to delete people from the world. When a picture of somebody is snapped using this burlesque phone, it wipes out their existence without leaving a trace. Helmed by Shutter’s creator, Parkpoom Wongpoom, Delete appears to be a tale of forbidden love on the surface but beneath the layers, it is a mystery suspense saga. When an art gallery owner, Lilly (Sarika Sartsilpsupa), is interviewed by a bestselling author, Aim (Nat Kitcharit), the world outside those four walls is forgotten. Chemistry sizzles between the two and their interactions become frequent.

While the series seems to appear like a cliche flick, it is way deeper than that. The plot is intricately woven and the multidimensional characters hold a myriad of secrets. Are you curious about the obfuscated ending of Netflix’s Delete Season 1? Well, I have got you covered!

Delete Season 1 Plot Synopsis

As Lilly and Aim’s love starts to bloom, they push aside their official relationships. Lilly is married to a ruthless farm owner, Too Arthit (Natara Nopparatayapon) and Aim has a supermodel girlfriend, Orn (Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying). Their love nest is weaved by lies and based on an alleged relationship which is forced to weather a storm when Too discovers about their relationship. Though Too is aware of his wife’s alleged affair, he doesn’t come out clean. Rather, he starts to play mind games with Lilly who doesn’t have time to waste on her husbands’s suspicious actions.

Aim’s girlfriend, Orn, is prickled by the truth, too literally. After her photoshoot, Orn stumbles in the shower stall but Lilly’s earring pierces her thumb and her suspicions regarding Aim and Lilly are solidified. On the other hand, Lilly hurries to a supermarket and discovers that she is pregnant with Aim’s child. That’s not the only thing she discovers though!

As Lilly starts scurrying out of the supermarket, she stumbles across a mysterious girl, Claire. With tears streaming down her face and shivering hands, Claire asks Lilly to click a picture of her. Though suspicious, Lilly abides by her request and snaps a photo but to her shock, Claire disappears in front of her eyes.

Who Kidnapped Lilly?

Disoriented, Lilly reaches out to Aim for help who refuses to believe her story. But later on, after Orn starts blackmailing him with an explicit video of him and Lilly, he loses his patience and deletes Orn using the enchanting phone. Meanwhile, Too reaches his limits and confronts Lilly. The two of them engage in a verbal fight which soon turns into a heated clash and results in Lilly being disappeared. Too is baffled but Aim is suspicious and the two of them start to investigate Lilly’s disappearance.

As Netflix’s Delete progresses further, Wongpoom introduces us to June, Too’s sister who fell for Lilly’s misery and bravado. After she confessed her feelings to Lilly a few days ago, their relationship crumbled down and she ended up stealing the phone. Now, as June is bullied by her classmates, she uses the phone to delete her but another of her classmates, Tong catches her red-handed.

Aside from Aim and Too, a policeman, Captain Yutthachai also has his eyes set on Lilly. Amid the growing animosity between Aim and Too, Lilly is out there, suffering and begging for release and the mystical phone is still nowhere to be found. As it turns out, it isn’t June but Yutthachai who kidnaps Lilly.

Who Is Claire?

When Lilly was approached by Claire, she was grieving and was burdened by her recent actions. A couple of hours earlier, Claire’s best friend, Natcha Achin pleaded to her to delete her and liberate her from her misery. Natcha has been tormented by cancer for almost all her life and her mother is now submerged neck-deep in debt due to the pile-high list of bills. Claire reluctantly gave in to Natcha’s pleadings and deleted her but her mother, who is a nurse at the hospital, catches her in an instant.

Even after being consoled by her parents, Claire couldn’t shake off her guilt. She wandered to the supermarket when she came across Lilly. Claire is Yutthachai’s daughter! He wants her back and the only way to do so is to delete Lilly. Since the phone has disappeared, Yutthachai is unable to achieve his mission. Now, he is ruthlessly chasing the phone which is in June’s possession, unbeknownst to everyone.

Does Yutthachai Delete Lilly?

There is an exception though! June’s classmate, Tong, is now aware of the phone and her heartfelt story. Tong, too, is heartbroken over his sister, Thong’s sudden disappearance and is frustrated that his mother isn’t over it yet. On the other hand, Lilly is brimming with survival instincts after hearing Claire’s mother pour her heart out. She manages to escape Yutthachai’s wife with a bleeding foot and takes refuge in a supermarket. The irony is indeed not lost on her!

The first person she dials is her husband, who wastes no time rushing towards her. Before Too could arrive, Yutthachai does with the phone he stole from June and Tong. He ends up deleting Lilly and saves his daughter but now, Too and Aim are aware of the phone’s secret. They waste no time in getting back at Yutthachai especially Too.

Delete Season 1 Ending Explained: What Is The Connection Between Too And Thong?

Too holds Claire at gunpoint and demands the phone from Yutthachai, who surrenders to his will instantly. After breaking a few bones, Too deletes Yutthachai to get Lilly back. He starts pampering her and promising a bright future with the child he knows isn’t his. Lilly withholds the information from Aim and falsely claims that the child is Too’s and she wants to give him another chance.

Now driven by guilt and heartbreak, Aim meanders aimlessly and ends up in the hospital where Orn’s mother is being treated for Alzheimer’s. With nowhere and no one to turn to, Aim decides to delete himself to bring back Orn for her mother. He types a long message for Lilly in which he admits the biopic he wrote is a fictional story and he wasn’t stuck in a forest alone. He was just another mischievous boy who wandered into that forest. But due to the media attention and fear of his parents, he made up the story.

Lilly is shocked and struck by Aim’s message. She is desperate to reach him. But before she could, she comes across a trunk in which Thong was captured by Too. She hides in another trunk and watches Too delete Thong before he advances towards her. On the other hand, June discovers Thong in a picture with Lilly and Too.

Netflix’s Delete, hereby, leaves us on a hook without disclosing Lilly’s fate and the nature of Too and Thong’s relationship.
