If loyalty had a face, Extraction’s leading star, Nik Kahn (Golshifteh Farahani) would be it. Serving as the co-star alongside Chris Hemsworth, Farahani’s character, Nik has garnered notoriety as the sweet yet spicy mercenary. Helmed by Sam Hargrave, Extraction is no doubt an action thriller film franchise. Yet, its extract lies within the past of Tyler and the presence of Nik in his life. Extractions holds sentiments and complex relationships close to its heart just like Prime Video’s Citadel does. As it is with every protagonist, Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) is backed up by loyal mates aka the Kahn siblings.
In Extraction 2, Rake has been presented with yet another heart-wrenching mission. This time, it is more personal than professional for Tyler because now, he has to retrieve his sister-in-law–oh, wait, ex-sister-in-law–and her children. Standing against the man fueled by vengeance, Zurab (Tornike Gogrichiani), are Tyler, Nik and Yaz (Adam Bessa) as a united front but it seems like their team is crumbling down.
Extraction 2: What Happened To Nik And Yaz?
Tyler, Nik and Yaz successfully rescue Ketevan (Tinatin Dalakishvili), her son, Sandro (Andro Jafaridze) and her daughter from the prison. But Sandro is upset with her mother resorting to having his father, Davit, killed in exchange for freedom. Sandro believes Davit had them trapped in the prison so that he could keep an eye on them and help him become a powerful Nagazi. He has been manipulated by Davit first and later, by his uncle, Zurab, who uses him as a pawn, too.
When Sandro rings Zurab and asks whether Davit wanted to kill his mother, he signs himself and his family for another attack. Though Ketevan is under protection, the safe house transforms into a war zone when Zurab’s men attack it. Though Tyler and Nik manage to save Ketevan, they lose Yaz and Sandro.

Does Nik Survive Zurab’s Attack?
Tyler’s ghost from the past, his ex-wife, Mia (Olga Kurylenko) and the mother to his now-dead son, shows up at his place. The wounds from the past are still fresh, their connection not so. Instead of throwing a jealousy-induced fit, Nik is more accepting of the mental scars Tyler endures and the relationship he shares with Mia. Sadly, their special moment doesn’t last long.
A couple of minutes later, Tyler gets a mysterious call from the devil himself and Tyler rushes towards Sandro. Though Nik tries her best to convince him, he tries to keep her from harm’s way and walks into the lion’s den alone. Nik, being the resilient woman she is, doesn’t stay behind either. She follows Tyler but the moment she steps in, the three of them engage in yet another gunfight. Being the majestic mercenary Rake is, he manages to kill Zurab but Nik is heavily injured. It is good news that Nik manages to survive Zurab’s attack. But like every other good news in Extraction, this one, too, is tainted with a follow-up disheartening news.
Why Are Tyler And Nik Arrested?
Tyler and Nik manage to save Sandro from the clutches of his Nagazi uncle, Zurab. They fail to save themselves somehow though as the police barges in and arrests them both for the murder of Zurab. Now clad in orange bungees, Rake and Kahn have to serve their sentence technically. In reality, though, their future beholds a different visual for them.
The essence of Extraction 2 is Tyler’s past which has been used to tease us right from the start. As Mia visits Tyler in the prison, their past is revealed in tidbits to us. Mia holds a grudge against Tyler for leaving her and their son for a mission. Rake was then an Australian SAS operator, serving his nation wasn’t just a duty but a commitment to him. Due to his unyielding devotion, Tyler ended up losing his son.
To whom? Why? These questions are yet to be addressed by Hargrave.
Extraction 2 Ending: What Happens With Tyler?
Mia reveals that their son considered Tyler as a hero and wanted to become one like him, the steel-shielded orbs of Tyler cannot hold the flooding emotions within himself. Their conversation ends on a rather affirmative note but then Extraction 2 takes a major twist and both, Tyler and Nik are liberated from the prison.
The informant who led Tyler to this mission smirks as he watches him but doesn’t gloat. He saved Rake and Kahn but when the former asks him about the man who sent him, he has a rather cryptic answer. Though he doesn’t reveal his name or much, he does claim that the man behind it all is way more dangerous than Zurab could ever be. Here, Extraction 2 ends on yet another cliffhanger, following the footfalls of its predecessor.
