Dance Brothers Recap: An Audition Went Wrong

Dance Brothers Review And Ending Explained

Recently arrived in Finland after completing their education, Roni and Sakari Luoto decide to audition for Arvola’s Dance Company. No doubt, this institution is the best in Finland–and is working to be recognized globally. No one wants to miss a golden opportunity like this, especially not the Luoto brothers who are ambitious to a T. While Sakke is a hothead with a deep affixation towards trouble, Roni is the responsible adult who considers Sakke a child.

ADC only accepts two dancers at a time and Sakke is selected. Roni, however, isn’t. As these two brothers join Karo and her team for a party, they try to overcome the rejection. Sakke conceals the truth for Roni but Karo (Jeanine Muyima) knows it. She is already a well-established dancer and works with a reputed dance celebrity, Angelo (Cristal Snow). Neither of them reveals anything to Roni, who is slightly dejected.

Roni is determined to make a career as a dancer and while Sakke shares his sentiments, he is easily distracted. To make ends meet, the Luoto brothers decide to start their own dance club. Their plan is full-proof; start a club, gain popularity, rehearse and work to become acclaimed dancers. Only, if things worked in their favour this easily.

Roni And Sakke Are Surrounded By Helpful People Yet Helpless Circumstances

The grand inauguration they planned for their club goes terribly wrong and now Roni and Sakke find themselves submerged in trouble. Their condition worsens when Roni finds out about Sakke rejecting ADC through a long-lost friend of his, Diima (Lauri Lohi). She is another popular figure in the dancing world and has strong connections. After Roni makes a bet with Angelo that he could beat Sakke in a dance-off, things start to seep downhill.

Sakke, with the help of his new girlfriend, Karo, defeats Roni. The former uses Karo’s skills while Roni does it all by himself–as always. Diima tries to convince Roni but ends up provoking him unknowingly. The Luoto brothers stand at a crucial stage in their lives now. They have a huge fight and yet, when Diima presents them with a once-in-a-lifetime kind of opportunity, they decide to keep their grudge aside.

Dance Brothers Ending Explained: Do Roni And Sakke Stay Together?

Dance Brothers Review And Ending Explained

Roni and Sakke are used to performing together, they are each other’s greatest strengths. Now, the said strength is put to the test heavily. Diima has brought an opportunity for them through a well-established dancer and dance company owner, Ranta. Diima has secured them a place in the upcoming dance festival and now the three of them have to get the gears moving.

Roni is the lead choreographer, the levelheaded, cynical man who is determined to not let his feelings run the show. Diima doesn’t share his sentiments though. She is quick to embrace her feelings towards Roni and let them meddle with their so-called professional relationship. Meanwhile, Angelo has overstepped the professional mark as well. Though Karo considers Angelo as her second father, the latter has rather romantic feelings for her. This complicates their relationship further with Angelo purposefully ruining their upcoming single’s shoot. Sakke and Karo have broken up due to the former’s drug-snorting and misdemeanour.

Diima has quit being a part of the trio and now Roni and Sakke are left to perform a duet. Their performance is once again a mess–of heart-wrenching emotions, purposeful kicks and bucket-loads of melodrama. In the end, things make sense. The choreography aside, Roni and Sakke put their heart into their dance and it is a messed-up yet delectable visual treat. Dance Brothers climax with Roni’s eyes set on Diima as he claims that he needs to save the important things in life.

Dance Brothers Review: A Phenomenal Tale Of Brotherhood, Only A Bit Overdramatic

When it comes to emotional dramas, things always accelerate to the point of being melodramatic. Dance Brothers carefully doesn’t overstep the mark even though it is a tad bit more overdramatic than the rest. Both the lead actors, Kujala and Kabanga, are natural in their roles. Each dialogue is delivered with passion, each emotion is being portrayed skillfully.

For a series that consists of 10 episodes all within the 20-minute timeframe, Dance Brothers makes for a perfect binge-watch. The challenges faced by the Luoto brothers, Roni and Sakke, are engrossing to watch. The supporting characters fit their roles perfectly as well. With not much to complain about, Netflix’s Dance Brothers stand at an 8 on 10.
