Directed by Mirai Minato and written originally by Yamamoto, When Will Ayumu Make His Move is a cliche high-school romance drama. It revolves around two teenagers who are as cute as rebellious. Throughout the 12-episode run, this anime lets us on the journey of the duo as they run away from their feelings initially. Slowly, though Urushi comes to terms with her feelings towards Ayumu and sets her mind to get a confession out of him.
The animation is on-point with the slight blush over Ayumu’s face being the highlight for me. Despite having a commendable poker face, Ayumu’s affection towards Urushi makes When Will Ayumu Make His Move a delightful watch. Other than this duo, the anime has several supporting characters and another potential couple in the form of Takeru and Sakurako. It is a lazy rom-com anime with nothing much to offer than high-school drama and teenage love. If I were to rate the anime, it would be a 7.5 on 10.
