My Master Has No Tail is a supernatural fantasy-based anime in which the main character is a shape-shifting tanuki girl Mameda, whose ancestors used their shape-shifting powers to fool humans. These abilities are now useless as the human race evolves with new technologies. Still, Mameda takes the form of a raven-haired human girl and heads to the city of Osaka to find humans and deceive them. But she fails miserably as humans are much more evolved than before. Later she finds someone who is one of her race yet shape-shifted as a human and fools humans for a long time. Her name was Bunko. A tanuki girl Mameda gets permission from her elders to go to a city named Osaka, The leader of the city tells her to be careful and not to try to trick humans like the olden times as humans have evolved and their tricks won’t work anymore. But once Mameda reaches the city, out of excitement she tries to trick humans and fails miserably. Later she tries to trick a lady named Bunko, Bunko immediately finds that she was a tanuki girl and tells her to get out of there.
Later that day Mameda visits a huge hall where she sees Bunko who is a Rocco performer. She is mind-blown by Bunk’s performance but very soon people who Mameda tricked earlier by giving leaves for money get after her. Mameda in an attempt to escape from the people jumps off a tall tower! Right when Mameda was to fall to the ground, Bunko turns up in a hovering boat and rescues Mameda. Later Bunko advised Mameda to return to where she belonged. But Mameda refuses and begs Bunko to be her master and to teach her how to trick humans and how to live among them.
