Co-creator Peter Gould remarked on whether he would want to return to the brand with another potential spinoff in a June interview with Newsweek before the show debuted in July’s second half of its last season. Gould expressed that he’d “want to keep the door open” for more, even if he concedes that they don’t presently have any plans to return, despite co-creator Vince Gilligan’s statement that he feels he must know when to “leave the party.” We have no plans for a further spinoff and, in Gould’s words to Newsweek, “we both feel that this is, you know, we’ve concluded the story, and it does not go on forever.” I would love to collaborate with Vince Gilligan once more. “Both the television series Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad featured tales with conclusions, and I believe this story has achieved its decision.
Will Better Call Saul Get a Spinoff?
It is one of the most eagerly awaited episodes of television in 2022. The series finale of “Better Call Saul,” the six-season spinoff to the popular drama “Breaking Bad,” created by co-creators Peter Gould and Vince Gilligan, will air on AMC following Monday. Gould and Gilligan stated at the Television Critics Association 2022 summer press tour that they didn’t want to expand the universe of these series. However, they didn’t completely rule out the prospect of a follow-up. Vegas parallels are usually a bad idea, but Gilligan insisted that you can’t keep repeatedly betting all of your savings on Red 21. We “probably pushed it” by creating a “Breaking Bad” spinoff. I completed “El Camino,” a “Breaking Bad” sequel movie, and I’m pleased with the results. So, he said, “I don’t currently have any plans to do anything else in this universe. I was asked at the conclusion of ‘Breaking Bad,’ and I gave the same response. I need to demonstrate that I’m more than a one-trick pony. I want to have the band together no matter what because I love working with them, but in a different universe.
Gould agreed although he seems a little more receptive to working on another project set in the “Breaking Bad” universe. According to Gould, the combined run the length of the two episodes plus the film is “a lot of time, a large investment to ask from the audience.” Like Vince, I believe there are some other things I want to explore, but I couldn’t be more pleased with the job. That said, I adore Albuquerque. I cherish Bob Odenkirk. I love Rhea Seehorn. I cherish Vince Gilligan. So, we’ll try to keep the band together as much as possible while keeping an open mind. Who can predict how we will feel in a few years? I doubt that the idea of killing the character was ever really explored. How are you going to get rid of America’s beloved? Do you recall ever discussing doing that? Gilligan enquired of Gould.
“This episode focuses on how to live with what you’ve done. Instead of ending it, how do you spend your life? Gould said. We were aware quite soon. The episode raises concerns regarding Kim’s feelings for Jimmy now that she is still alive following the events of “Breaking Bad. During the panel, Seehorn stated, “I’m positive that she still loves Jimmy. Never once did she not love him, not even in the tragic scene where they split up. She did not arrive at her decision in that manner. Odenkirk talked about his worries when “Better Call Saul” initially started airing about how it will be accepted.
He admitted that I entirely put such emotions and concerns into compartments and disregarded them. But when I saw that billboard go up after we shot the season, I started to worry about tarnishing the reputation of ‘Breaking Bad.’ Oh, sh*t, we created a program that people will watch. I’m so accustomed to being knocked down in Hollywood that I don’t even think about people viewing it and criticizing it. The audience and reviewers immediately said, “Okay, they’re doing something intriguing here. Also, I did not anticipate that. I commend the audience and the critics for their sensitivity and attention to detail. However, I must also respect Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould for not letting “Breaking Bad” continue until you were sick of it.
When asked what he looks for in his performance, Odenkirk responded that he will revisit the entire series in a few months even though he is now much more sure about the show.
Since I’ve become so sensitive to sobbing on television, I believe it will be what I’m most sensitive to. Peter is already aware of this. Real people don’t seem to display emotion frequently, and Odenkirk expressed concern that he would overdo it. “I certainly hope I didn’t do that. And I hope that each time it sounds as genuine as the amazing scene acted by Rhea Seehorn. That struck me as being wholly, harrowingly true. I’ll check to see if I handled those extremely delicate emotional moments when I see them again. You must be sincere and upfront with them.
Better Call Saul has ended after 15 years and, for the time being at least, put a stop to the Breaking Bad series. There are still a few other things I’d love to try someday. But someday, I’d love to keep the door open and bring these characters back to that great Albuquerque setting.

Vince Gilligan & Peter Gould are the creators of the American investigative and dramedy television show Better Call Saul. It is a spinoff, prequel, and successor to Gilligan’s prior series, Breaking Bad, and a component of the Breaking Bad trilogy. The show follows the modifications of Jimmy McGill, a sincere attorney, and former scam artist, into the egotistical criminal defense lawyer Saul Goodman. Jimmy is inspired by his elder brother Chuck to abandon his past as “Slippin’ Jimmy,” a con artist in the Chicago area. His adversary is managing partner Howard Hamlin of the Albuquerque legal firm Hamlin, Hamlin & McGill. Where he first works in the mailroom. While working at HHM, Jimmy befriends Kim Wexler, a coworker in the mailroom who goes on to earn a law degree and join the firm as an associate. Their friendship eventually develops into a sexual relationship. Chuck’s success inspires Jimmy to finish college and earn a Juris Doctor degree from The University of American Samoa via correspondence. After being admitted to the bar but turned down for a job at HHM, Jimmy focuses on representing low-income clients, such as a public defender. Later, as he establishes an elder law firm, he files a protracted case against a chain of nursing homes that he learns is cheating its patients. He starts working with Chuck on a class-action lawsuit, but Chuck immediately passes it off to HHM, shutting Jimmy out. Chuck’s persistent insults, sabotage, and vengeful actions toward Jimmy cause him to fall apart. Characters and plot lines from Jimmy’s life and work start to overlap with the illegal drug trade and carry over into Breaking Bad.
The tense truce respectively Gus Fring, a fried chicken industrialist whose food company provides a disguise for the drug business, and the Salamanca family, which supports the Juárez Cartel drug attention and is headed first by Hector Salamanca but instead afterwards by his nephews Tuco and Lalo, is one of these storylines. Ignacio “Nacho” Varga, a Salamanca accomplice, looking to shield his father from danger, & Mike Ehrmantraut, a retired Philadelphia police officer who acts as Gus’ fixer, are among those involved in the ensuing chaos. Jimmy adopts the identity of the flamboyant, colourful Saul Goodman as his meetings with criminals go on, and he begins to depend on his experience as a con man as his work as an advocate shift from dubious to immoral to illegal.
The show also features black-and-white flashforwards to events after Breaking Bad and a few sequences that occur in the Breaking Bad chronology. In these images from 2010, Jimmy is shown residing in hiding as Gene Takavic, the proprietor of a Cinnabon shop.
