The anime follows the Demon Lord Satan who seeks to conquer Ente Isla with the help of his team members, Alciel, Lucifer, Malacoda and Adramelech. He is contradicted by Hero Emilia and her companions, who later force him and his team to escape Ente Isla. In their vicious fight, Satan manages to rescue Alciel but loses two of his team members.
He is then forced to take refuge in modern Japan where magic is a fantasy concept. Satan transforms himself into a mere human, Sadao Maou and joins a fast food joint to sustain himself.
