Developed by Sony Music Entertainment Japan in association with CloverWorks Studio, UniteUp follows several story arcs. It is centred around a dozen characters that are easily relatable and intriguing. The director, Shin’ichiro Ushijima, and the writer, Rino Yamazaki, have made this multidimensional, multifaceted pop anime possible. The project began in November 2021 with a YouTube channel that consisted of songs from several artists.
Ushijima, in collaboration with Sony and CloverWorks picked up the idea for an anime. Season 1 premiered on January 7, 2023, and premiered on Crunchyroll and other local Japanese networks for three months. It concluded in April 2023 and ever since fans have been anticipating a plausible sequel which is now confirmed!
The creator, Ushijima and Crunchyroll have officially confirmed that UniteUp Season 2 is in production. It will soon hit our screens and enamour fans. UniteUp Series Overview
This twelve-episode anime series revolves around a group of idols in the broader sense but dedicates its focus to Akira Kiyose. He is a high schooler with a passion towards singing, a blend of talent and nervousness. When recruited by a prestigious talent agency, Akira’s self-doubt starts to wane and he slowly starts garnering confidence. As it turns out, the agency that recruited Akira has been founded by a legendary singer, Anela, who’s now retired due to some unusual circumstances.
Akira later comes across other singers, Banri Naoe and Chihiro Isuzugava. The three of them form a pop idol group entitled Protostar under the influence of Anela. On the other hand, the Legit idol group and Jaxx/Jaxx, too, flourish seamlessly. The three clans compete against each other to become the best pop idol groups but their paths intertwine often, too.
UniteUp Season 2 Plot
Each character in the anime adds a layer of excitement and mystery to it. Be it the scandalous Daiki Takao of the Legit clan or Kiyose, none of these characters dull the anime. By the end of UniteUp Season 1, these troupes have all enjoyed their shine and weaved through some hurdles. They have become a tight-knit gang and have started to collaborate with other groups, too. Moreover, in the finale episode of the debut season, the mysterious Anela, too, has conquered the stage in the ultimate concert.
