How Many People Were Killed In The Boston Marathon Bombing And Many Other Questions Related To The American Manhunt Mini-Series

On the 15th of April 2013, which was Patriot Day the Boston Marathon took place it was quite an exclusive event and almost all citizens of Boston looked forward to it and are a part of it in some way. However, in 2013, it didn’t go that well and left a scar in the history of America that can never be forgotten.

Just near the finish line of the race, a pressure cooker bomb in a bag was set off, following that another bomb set off just a few seconds later around the last corner of the street and more than 260 people were injured in the attack. All together based on our sources three people were found dead and while the chase was going on for the next couple of days a police officer who was on guard in MIT was shot dead by the runaway terrorists.

The first person to die in the incident was Krystle Campbell who was a friend of Karen whose interview we have already seen in the series American Manhunt, Karen herself lost one of her legs while her husband was the one who was running the race, and Krystle and Karen went to see at the finish line.

There was also some confusion regarding Krystle and Karen because at first Karen was identified as Krystle because she took her phone after the bomb blast, and Krystle’s family was informed that she is safe and out of risk, but soon it was announced that it was actually Karen and they have lost Krystle.

Following that we have got two other people, the second one being Lu Lingzi who was actually an American Chinese citizen, and she just graduated from Boston University and was there to witness this historic marathon with some of her friends but while her friends only ended up being injured, she lost her life to this fatal incident.

Then the most traumatic death was of an eight-year-old child named Martin Richard, he was a local kid who wanted to watch the race with his family and was killed because of the second bomb that was actually planned by Dzhokar, he died of blood loss and there was no chance of saving him.

Following all this incident, soon after when the investigators gave a press release regarding the suspects of the bomb blast and revealed their faces to the public a shootout took place near MIT where officer Sean Allen Collier was shot dead while the two suspects tried to steal his gun and ran away using the car of a civilian soon after. These were the only deaths that took place but maybe Officer Sean would still have been alive if the faces of the suspects wouldn’t be revealed that early before taking any precautions for further incidents.

Were There Any Faults On The Side Of The Police?

Yes, from the eyes of the media, there were many faults on the side of the investigators and the jurisdiction first being the fact that the faces of the suspects were revealed which ended up creating tension in the minds of Tamerlan and Dzokhar which soon ended up killing officer Sean while he was on the watch of MIT.

Then following that according to the media, the first shootout that took place was on the third day after the bombing and 18th of April 2013, the police officers that ended up facing the two brothers in a small locality filled with civilians ended up firing more than 200 bullets at those brothers while the brothers shot back and also threw bombs at them, there was the incident where Dzokhar ended up killing his own brother to escape while Tamerlan committed suicide by giving up his gun and confronting police with his bare hands.

During this full-on exchange of gunshots, the police were very careless and many civilians were at risk, and nearly a small baby was killed by one of the bullets but it missed him just by a few inches.

Again, another fault that we see is that when at the end of the chase Dzokhar was found in the boat, there was an exchange of shots and Dzokhar was at risk he was supposed to be arrested for investigation and more than 100 rounds of bullets were fired which put the lives of the nearby civilians in the house at danger.

For how many days did the chase go on after the incident

The first three days after the 15th of April 2013, there was no direct confrontation between the bombers and the police, however, the press reports were released on the 18th of April regarding the identification of the culprits. Following that the famous chase took place as we know. Then Dzokhar was in hiding for the next complete day while he suffered some shots by the police, the police finally take him into custody on the 19th of April 2013. Altogether it was more than 100 hours of the chase and a total of 4 days during which the entire city of Boston was nearly under lockdown.
