Darwin’s Game Season 2 Release Date
Flipflops published the eponymous manga in January 2013 in Akita Shoten’s manga magazine. So far, 28 volumes have been published and each of them has been received warmly by the readers. And it seems like Flipflops has more to offer because the manga is still ongoing. Four years after the manga was launched, Yoshinobu Tokumoto adapted it into an anime. Darwin’s Game debuted on January 3, 2020, with each episode released weekly. The anime ran for three months and consisted of eleven episodes.
Studio Nexus is known for launching several hit animes including The Wakaba Girl, The Eminence in Shadow and of course Darwin’s Game, too. Now, after three years since the anime hit our screens, there seem to be no updates regarding Darwin’s Game Season 2. Initially, it was speculated that the sequel will be broadcasted in 2021 but soon, these rumours withered away with time. The director, Tokumoto and Nexus are still not ready to disclose any details regarding Darwin’s Game even after three years.
However, given the cliffhangers left by its predecessor, Darwin’s Game Season 2 becomes an undeniable possibility. Moreover, there is more than enough source material available for Tokumoto to adapt to the anime. Though the reason behind the delay is still unknown, it is chalked up to the pandemic. Darwin’s Game Season 1 Plot Summary
The anime follows a sophomore, Kaname Sudo, who receives a mysterious invitation to join Darwin’s Game one day. Like the game-addict teen Kaname is, he eagerly accepts the invitation unbeknownst to what he is truly signing up for. As the game progresses, Kaname soon realizes that he is struck in an alternate universe and this game is relentless to its core. Packed with intense action fights, gore and suspense, Darwin’s Game Season 1 concludes with a twist.
With Kaname’s Sigil (superpower) allowing him to recreate weapons and a kindhearted personality, he soon becomes a Champion. But the killings take a toll on his mental health and Sudo decides to end the Game Master. However, Kaname considers an evil entity turns out to be a dark knight. The game is staged to handpick fighters who are capable of competing against the Creed monsters. The Creed-versus-Champion trope will serve as the base for Darwin’s Game Season 2 for sure.
Darwin’s Game Season 2 Storyline
At the end of the first season, Kaname embarked on a hunting game inside a deadly forest. Darwin’s Game Season 2 is expected to pick the storyline from here and put Kaname’s resilience to the test once again. Kaname tries to limit killing his fellow players but once they become a threat, he can easily dismantle them. Yet, there lingers a trace of guilt in his brain. But now that the Creed is nearing closer, guilt will soon become a foreign emotion.
Kaname will have to battle with the monsters if he wants himself and the world to stay erect. Darwin’s Game Season 2 will be bloodier, messier and more violence-filled than the sequel if it is approved.
