Festivals are times when everyone around us gets a chance to enjoy their time. No matter how tough their life is, they long for these times to cherish the time. In Vaastav, Sanjay Dutt plays the role of a dangerous gangster. Due to his social stature, Raghu cannot be seen in broad daylight. He operates a gang and he makes a lot of money and fortune with his loots. In the film, as the backdrop of Diwali sets in and people start to be in a festive mood, we see Raghu coming out. He is bringing expensive gifts for his family. When he meets his mother, the duo exchange some words after such a long time. Their glowing faces depicts the arrival of happiness.

They say Diwali protects people from the evil, and any darkness. It provides a safe circle that surrounds us with warmth and comfort. If you are a fan of Kamal Hassan, this movie must have been one of the favourites. Chachi was in a house for tutoring her own kid, Bharti. All of them in their ethnic costumes celebrate the Festival of Lights by lighting up fire crackers in a song number.

Shahrukh Khan has delivered a whole range of movies where Indian culture and festivals have got protrayed in a very elaborate manner. This film is one of his comedic plus romantic hero genre movies, but it has also depicted the happiness behind Diwali. In Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Shahrukh Khan’s character belongs to an almost slum like region. People are trying their best to make their living but the whole bastee is very generous. When Shahrukh Khan’s character gets selected for interview and he gets the job offer, everyone starts to celebrate. Nana Patekar added more flavour to this number by performing as a musician in that bastee. It was diwali and we see people singing and dancing together. The way they celebrate this signifies that Diwali always bring light in every corner.

10. Taare Zameen Par

Whenever we light up a lamp, there’s always some darkness beneath it. It signifies the sad but unfortunate balance between happiness and sadness that exists in this world. Taare Zameen Par has been one of the most beautifully crafted movies that shows vulnerability and normalises mental weakness. The protagonist of this movie, Ishaan Awasthi is a dyslexic young little kid. For some reason or the other, his family blames him and thinks that he is the reason behind failure in academics. So they decide to send him to boarding soon while Diwali has set in. Ishaan is scared to stay without his mom and completely alone. He sits alone in complete silence and despair in one corner as the neighbour’s kid light up a cracker in a distance. He has happiness right in front of him but he cannot touch it. Ishaan cannot enjoy Diwali despite loving the festival so much. This is not your usual depiction of Diwali but a sad reality. The film has managed to let us understand the worth of being able to celebrate a festival properly.
