It is a story of two-speed climbers from Switzerland and their stories of traversing the world’s deadliest mountains. This documentary shows the adventures they both had in the Alps. These two had a rivalry since 2011 and they did the climbing alone that too without any equipment. So this rivalry began when Arnold broke Steck’s record after climbing the Eiger mountain. What Is The Backstory Of Ueli Steck?

Ueli is commonly known as “The Swiss Machine” as he began climbing from a very young age. He was born in Emmental, Switzerland and started his career as a professional climber at the age of 18. His early climbs were the north face of the Eiger and the Bonatti Pillar in the Mont Blanc massif. In the year 2005, he was recognised as ” one of the three best alpinists in the world” by the Climb magazine. Steck also set a record for climbing the Eiger in the fastest time. It was in 2007 when he climbed the Eiger in 3 hours and 54 minutes. There were dangers associated with climbing too. In 2007, while climbing the Annapurna in Nepal, he was struck in the head and was unconscious which made him fall down.

What Is the Backstory Of Dani Arnold?

He was born in the Uri mountains in Switzerland. Like Steck, he too became fond of climbing from a very early age. He climbed the same mountains as Steck did and he also broke the record of Steck’s fastest Eiger climbing. Arnold finished the climb in 2 hours and 28 minutes and hence set a new record. But in 2015, Steck regained the title by beating Dani’s record. In 2015, Arnold went into turbo mode as he climbed all 82 peaks in the Alps. So he ran, paraglided, and cycled between the ranges and he completed all this in some 62 days. It was a heroic challenge which Arnold completed very well.

What Happened To Both Of The Climbers?

In April 2017, Steck went to Tibet to climb Everest. While climbing the summit on 30th April 2017, Steck was 300 meters away from the Summit. But he fell from the mountain and had a 1000-meter drop. His body was found in the camps below and recovered. Then his body was taken to Kathmandu where his body is buried till now. Dani still continues climbing mountains and has set a speed record for climbing the Mont Blanc massif.
