In 2020, Helgaker, Torgersen and Joel Trussell collaborated together to manifest a tale of a ship captain weighed down by betrayals, secrets and expectations. However, they had to alter their plans when Netflix suggested an animated series based on their concept instead of a live-action series they initially aspired of. In an interview, the creators expressed their gratitude to Netflix’s executives for suggesting the animated version of their story since it provides “creative freedom like nothing else”.
While the makers have shared that the comics series, The Adventures of Tintin and the film, The Iron Giant, they are yet to share their plans for a sequel. However, given the cliffhangers left by the debut season, a follow-up sequel becomes rather obvious. Captain Fall Season 1 Recap
Jonathan Fall is a naive and rather blunt protagonist who’s enrolled into the merchant navy academy. But he’s kindhearted and tormented by his family to the bone. His parents, Blake and Alexis, favour his brother, Tanner over him due to his immaculate performance in academics and extracurricular activities. Jonathan has been subjected to criticism ever since his childhood but he’s far from accustomed to the behaviour. When he once again scores the lowest in the final exams, Jonathan accepts that he wouldn’t get a respectable job.
On the other hand, the captain of a ginormous ship is arrested by federal officers for smuggling and human trafficking. Meanwhile, other crew members, Liza and Pedro, wreak havoc in the employment office to find a new captain. Their criteria is a bit absurd though. Liza and Pedro want the lowest-scoring captain to steer their ship and they then come across Jonathan.
Meanwhile, Jonathan is shocked to have received captaincy of a reputed ship, Caribbean Queen. Little does he know, he is being framed. Moreover, Jonathan’s parents switch sides and start favouring him above Tanner, creating a rift between the two brothers.
Captain Fall Season 2 Story
At the end of Captain Fall Season 1, Agent Steel deduces that Jonathan is behind the racketeering and smuggling going on behind his back. He manages to get his hands on the file that allegedly records Jonathan’s misconduct. However, Steel doesn’t realize that the crew members have curated that file for a reason and are deceiving him. Moreover, Jonathan’s relationship with his brother, Tanner, is crumbling down and nothing in his life is stable.
With Steel planning to arrest Jonathan for the crimes he didn’t commit, the storyline of Captain Fall Season 2 becomes obvious. The creators will more certainly portray Jonathan struggling to rise back from the ashes and prove his innocence in the upcoming season. Also, Jonathan would have to tend to his broken relationship with his family.
