The Real Has Come Season 2 Release Date: Will KBS Approve The Sequel?

Weekend K-dramas are the highlight of our long and tiring weeks, isn’t it? A cheesy storyline coupled with some swoon-worthy characters makes for the perfect weekend binge. The Real Has Come is one of those family weekend series that possesses bucketloads of drama and engrossing characters. The series is led by Ahn Jae-Hyun who is returning to the silver screen after three years as the sweet yet straightforward Gong Tae-Kyung. Leading the show alongside Jae-Hyun is Empress Ki’s Baek Jin-Hee as Oh Yeon-Doo. She, too, is making a comeback after four years having been last seen in the series Feel Good to Die in 2018.

It is the intense chemistry between these two characters that have made The Real Has Come series such an enthralling watch. Coupled with the fact that both of them have been missed highly by fans, the series was bound to be a fan favourite. With the increasing popularity of K-drama, fans have started to wonder whether a sequel is on its way. If you are one of those fans, here are all the updates you need to know about The Real Has Come Season 2!

The Real Has Come Season 2 Release Date

The Real Has Come Season 2

Directed by Han Joon-Seo, The Real Has Come premiered on March 25, 2023, and ever since, two episodes are released every weekend on KBS. The K-drama is scheduled for 50 episodes out of which only 28 have been broadcasted so far. The series is enjoying a loyal fanbase but critics have a few complaints about it namely its exaggerated plot and cliche storyline. However, these criticising comments haven’t deterred The Real Has Come to garner millions of views.

The makers haven’t yet shared their plans for the sequel yet. Given the first season is currently ongoing, we have no cliffhangers to hope for a Season 2. It depends on the writer, Jo Jeong-Joo, and his vision for the series now. So far, the channel hasn’t greenlit the sequel but if it does, we can expect The Real Has Come Season 2 to premiere in mid-2024.

The Real Has Come Series Overview

The series follows Oh Yeon-Deo who is in love with an investment expert, Kim Jun-Ha (Jung Eui-Jae) who is as logical as cynical. When Yeon-Dee announces her pregnancy, Jun-Ha declines any kind of support and suggests abortion. To save face, Yeon-Deo claims that the father of her unborn child is Gong Tae-Kyung. After her moment of desperation and rage has withered away, Yeon-Deo realizes what kind of mess she has dragged herself and Tae-Kyung into.

To her surprise, Tae-Kyung agrees to pretend to be her boyfriend and the father of her child. To everyone, Tae-Kyung is your do-gooder with rugged edges and a highly skilled obstetrician and gynaecologist. Yeon-Deo shares everyone else’s sentiments and considers Gong to be a spoilt and wealthy man. However, as she starts spending time with him and unveils his layers, her perception begins to change and so do her feelings.

The Real Has Come Season 2 Plot

Tae-Kyung doesn’t only have rugged edges but a torn heart, too, which he tries to conceal behind a mask of nonchalance. Behind the curtains, he is deeply tormented by the death of his parents and the pressure inflicted upon him by his step-parents. To add a cherry on top, his first love, Jang Se-Jin (Cha Joo-Young), rejected him once, too. But now, Se-Jin has started to realize her mistake. She understands how Tae-Kyung could provide her with the luxury she desires and is desperate to achieve it.

To get close to him, Se-Jin plans to woo Tae-Kyung’s family, whom she works for, too. Her efforts are washed down when Yeon-Doo arrives in Tae-Kyung’s life and the two start to get close. Now, Se-Jin is jealous and Jun-Ha is unaware that he is the biological father of Yeon-Doo’s child. The Real Has Come Season 2 will probably showcase Se-Jin and Jun-Ha collaborating together against Yeon-Doo and Tae-Kyung.
