Break Point Part 2 Recap

As the first part aired on Netflix, Ajla Tomljanovic’s claims regarding her glow-up went viral. Ajla has always been vocal about how tennis isn’t just a game but a sport that has significant lows that have always been unspoken. She wanted to portray the downside of the sport, not to criticize but enlighten her fans and the world about the struggles these tennis players undergo through. Also, Ajla has been teasing her fans about her glow-up Break Point Part 2 will portray.

True to Tomljanovic’s claims, this Netflix tennis docuseries highlights her resilience and the promising glow-up. Just in time for the Wimbledon Championships, Break Point Part 2 has arrived at the perfect time. Not only Ajla gets a front-row seat in this series but her epic win against the tennis legend, Serena Williams in the US Open is highlighted as well. Who Is Nick Kyrgios? What Happened To Him?

On his way to becoming a tennis legend, Kyrgios has it rough and is willing not to let his past determine his future. He hasn’t only been accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend but has also had to endure whiplash from his fans, fellow players and well, the entire world. Even before the trailer for Break Point Part 2 was out, Nick started to flaunt his dominating appearance in the series. Just like Ajla bragged about her glow-up, Nick boasted about how the series spends a huge time narrating his story.

And why wouldn’t Martin Webb, the director, be stressing Kyrgios’ story? It has all the elements to lure a wide fanbase with Nick’s elicit story. He doesn’t hold back, narrating his struggle with mental health issues and suicidal thoughts. Kyrgios didn’t only go through self-harm or suicidal thoughts but also went as far as inflicting injuries on his arms. His story is narrated by Break Point in such an enticing manner that it more or less throws you into Kyrgios’ mind.

Once again, Webb shifts the narrative to Frances Tifoe who expresses his heart-wrenching story, too. Being an immigrant with no one to turn to, Frances and his parents went through a lot. His father was a caretaker at the tennis club and Frances spent high time in the club, leading him to seek refuge in the tennis world.

Break Point Part 2 Ending Explained: Serena Williams’ Retirement Leaves Everyone In Frenzy

Break Point keeps dodging players and each of them has valuable insight to share. Some players like Nick and Frances narrate their backstories and grip you hard. Others like Iga Waiatek and Fritz share their personal experiences and express their perspectives on the sport they are so deeply connected with. It also highlights the rivalry between Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipas and it is safe to say, Break Point Part 2 is way more emotion-fueled and drama-clad than its predecessor.

The series’ most emotional moment hits hard when Serena Williams, the 23-time Grand Slam champion loses her final match to Tomljanovic in the 2022 US Open. It is the breakpoint of the series and nothing short of a farewell to the woman who redefined the sport with her unyielding passion and bright smile. Not only does Serena grabs the attention of the media but also her fans, who are still clinging to hopes and memories of Williams throwing and hitting balls on the field.

Her reason for retirement is purely personal it seems. Williams’ fans–and almost the entire world–are aware of how she had to endure a nearly fatal pulmonary embolism that endangered her and her then-unborn child’s fate. Now that Serena and her husband, Alexis Ohanian Jr. are aspiring for another child, she has decided not to tempt fate again and be dedicated to only one thing at a time.
