The Eighth Sense Season 2: Will Jae-Won And Ji-Hyun Get Their Happily Ever After?

Beware, The Eighth Sense is not a thriller or a paranormal series! On the contrary, it is a meaningful tale of discovering true love and believing in the eighth sense that sheds guiding light. It is a powerful romantic story, often treading the line between the necessary drama and melodrama. Written and directed by Werner Du Plessis and Inu Baek, The Eighth Sense is set in modern-day Korea. The world might have moved on from the era of prejudice but some people are still stuck there with their gibberish mindset.

This campus romance tale targets those people subtly and challenges the backward mindset people still harbour. Fair warning, The Eighth Sense deals with trauma and mental health issues deeply, with no holds barreled. It makes sense why a sequel for such an intricate series is in high demand. Let us explore what the makers think of The Eighth Sense Season 2!

The Eighth Sense Season 2

Two campus residents, Ju-Hyun (Oh Jun Taek) and Jae Won (Im Ji Sub) lead the series. Both the men possess a heartfelt story to narrate and when they come across each other, their stories intertwine into one which the makers have brought to us entitled The Eighth Sense. So, this might not be a true story but it is a closest resemblance to the hurdles faced by a bisexual couple. Season 1 stands have rightfully assembled a strong fanbase.

While these fans are overly interested in knowing about The Eighth Sense Season 2, the makers are adamant about keeping their plans on the down low. They haven’t confirmed speculations that are making rounds on the Internet. Since it has been only a few days since Season 1 climaxed with its finale episode on April 26, 2023, not much could be held against the creators. Given the increasing popularity of the series, The Eighth Sense Season 2 is highly possible. It could premiere in the spring of 2024 or be delayed until the end of 2024 considering the extensive filming process.

The Eighth Sense Season 2: What Will Be The Story?

The Eighth Sense Season 2

When Jae Won returns to the university after completing his military service, he doesn’t realize what a rollercoaster ride awaits him. He is your textbook definition of an extrovert. Jae-Won is naturally popular but on the inside, he is suffering through several traumatic issues. He meets his match in Ji-Hyun who hails from a rural village and is struggling to find footing in Seoul. Both of them share an intense chemistry and are fond of surfing. Also, they connect on a deeper level with their mental health issues weighing down on them.

They don’t fall in love instantly, it is a rather slow and meaningful process for them. Season 1 did a stellar job setting the plot and making Jae-Won and Ji-Hyun embrace their feelings. Now, The Eighth Sense Season 2 is expected to carry their relationship ashore and help them fight their personal issues without letting the interferers–namely Jae Won’s super-rich, super influential father–win. Their happily ever after depends on Season 2 entirely!

The Eighth Sense Season 1 Review: An Artistically Delivered Tale That Dragged Too Long

The creators Werner Du Plessis and Inu Baek did a commendable job manifesting such a compelling series on Amazon Prime. The characters are well-written and well executed with both of the leading cast members doing a phenomenal job. I found myself engaged in the initial episodes that showcased Jae-Won running away from his feelings towards Ji-Hyun. Their connection is gripping and their backstories are quite realistic, too.

The only complaint from The Eighth Sense remains its slow pace. For a 10-episode series, the storytelling could have moved at a moderate speed if not briskly. And yes, it is quite melodramatic and not for everyone. I would rate it 8 on 10 for its direct approach to sensitive issues and the connection between the leading characters.
