Complex divorce cases are no big deal for our suave attorney, Shin Sung-Han, right? We have seen him battle through the most seemingly impossible cases and emerge as a winner. In the new episodes of Divorce Attorney Shin, the makers set the bar higher for Sung-Han by surrounding him with 3 cases that will leave you muddled. But that’s not all that’s happening in Divorce Attorney Shin Episodes 7 And 8. These episodes have more to offer us of Sung-Han’s gloomy past as well.
Divorce Attorney Shin, Netflix’s latest courtroom drama, probably depends entirely on Sung-Han’s past. The makers keep teasing us about the tragedy that happened to Sung-Han that made him switch professions. Now, after 8 episodes we have a pencil-sketched picture in front of us that is yet to be coloured by the makers. In these new episodes, we get to witness another side of Shin and that’s quite intriguing!
Divorce Attorney Shin Episodes 7 And 8 Recap
As episode 7 began, we get to witness Shin standing in a boutique and getting his new suit. His spectacles are off and so is his demure look; Shin stands tall against his enemies with a layer of confidence we were probably missing. Though Sung-Han doesn’t shy away from putting people in their places, his subtle anger sometimes doesn’t work with us. But in episode 7, as Shin confronts Keumhwa’s lawyer and his enemy, Yu-Seok, we see a unique glimmer shining in his eyes.
In the previous episodes, we witnessed how Young-Joo and Shin were secretly at odds. Now, Shin has clearly specified that he is aware of Young-Joo’s not-so-secret tricks of getting back at him. Though he doesn’t directly confront her, Shin claims that in front of Yu-Seok whom he knew would relay his message. With episode 7 has introduced us to Shin’s angry and bitter persona, episode 8 starts entirely differently.
Episode 8 lets us get a glimpse into Shin’s quick wit as he stars in a radio show. Everyone including his best friends, Hyeong-Geun and Jeong-Sik, and his colleagues, Attorney Choi, Seo-Jin and Sae-Bom are amazed upon hearing his words. But this heartfelt, lightweight moment ends as Seo-Jin gets to know about Min-Jeong’s hospitalization.

The First Baffling Case
The first and probably the most heart-touching case for Seo-Jin, Min-Jeong and Hyeon-Tae’s divorce, leaves her tattered. Since Seo-Jin sat down as a consultant to Min-Jeong, it is natural she feels deeply connected to her. But that’s not the only reason; Min-Jeong reminds Seo-Jin of her past and how her husband manipulated her into believing he was in love with her. As it happens, Min-Jeong is suffering through the same issue.
Min-Jeong is a schizophrenic for almost a decade, her mental condition doesn’t only concern her parents but also her husband, Hyeon-Tae. Only Hyeon-Tae’s concern is dipped in manipulation and forgery. As Seo-Jin talks to Min-Jeong and both of them get comfortable with each other, Seo-Jin starts believing that Hyeon-Tae knew about Min-Jeong’s mental condition. Hyeon-Tae portrayed his daughter as a niece to Min-Jeong and her family which resulted in Min-Jeong’s mental condition worsening. And while Seo-Jin doesn’t have any evidence to back up her theory, Sung-Han agrees to take a look into the case once.
The Second Perplexing Case
As episode 8 progressed further, Jeong-Sik starts reminiscing about how he once considered Daenam electronics and Keumhwa Law Firm to not influence each other. When Shin’s sister, Ju-Hwa, and her husband were on the threshold of getting a divorce, Jeong-Sik was the one who picked Yu-Seok as her lawyer. He believed that Yu-Seok would help her win the case against Daenam Electronics’ heir, Jeong-Guk. But he turned out to be wrong.
The second divorce case Shin will be dealing with in the upcoming episodes would be of Ju-Hwa’s ex-mother-in-law, Geum-Hee. When she asks Shin whether he can guarantee a win, he simply says that he can guarantee a fight and that’s what she wants. Though Geum-Hee’s case isn’t as dramatic as the rest, it is certainly an intriguing scene to watch. What her son did with Shin’s sister and what Geum-Hee expects from Shin after that is an irony we don’t want to miss. Geum-Hee’s husband still wants to work on their relationship but now Geum-Hee has moved on. Would Shin be able to fight against Keumhwa Law Firm and Daenam Electronics once again?
The Third Case That Leaves Everyone In A Whirlwind
Young-Joo isn’t holding back, she is attacking Sung-Han with as much force as she can without being caught. The third case of Sung-Han is Young-Joo’s plan. Attorney Choi spying on Sung-Han and Yu-Seok doing his best to win any case against him doesn’t seem to be enough for Young-Joo. She wants to snatch Gi-Yeong, Ju-Hwa’s son, from Shin as well despite disliking Gi-Yeong herself.
Back to the case, Shin is fighting against Yu-Seok for Chun-Seok. Dinh Thi Hoa, a Vietnamese mother claims that her husband, Chun-Seok, physically and mentally tortures her and now she wants to take her son away from him. But when she went to Chun-Seok, he lost his temper and almost broke her arm for doing so. After listening to her story, Yu-Seok isn’t convinced just like Shin isn’t. Shin hears out Chun-Seok who is convinced that his drinking habit has made him lose his temper several times.
But he doesn’t want to become like his abusive alcoholic father and wants to strive for being a better person. When Yu-Seok and Sung-Han stand against each other in the courtroom, we are all certain that Dinh Thi Hoa is hiding something. And since Sung-Han doesn’t have any concrete evidence against her, we were a bit nervous for him.
Shin wouldn’t be the hero if he didn’t know how to turn the tables on his side. Shin asks Dinh Thi whether her son, Yeong-Gwang, whom she wants to save from Yu-Seok, is truly Yu-Seok’s son. Divorce Attorney Shin episode 8 ends with Sung-Han demanding a paternity test and smirking at Yu-Seok who harbours a defeated expression.
