The Polish movie, Tonight You Are Sleeping With Me has just streamed on Netflix. The film starts with fun music giving me the hope the movie will be fantastic, but since the beginning movie went downhill. Let’s just start with the story (major spoilers ahead) Tonight You Are Sleeping With Me starts with a family of four- Nina (wife and journalist), Maciek (husband), and their two wonderful daughters, Lina And Zuzia.
Talking about the film, I will be giving it a 2 out of 5. There’s nothing interesting about the storyline. I started to watch it very seriously and then ended up putting the movie on 1.5x just to see the climax which was indeed no good. You know the kind of movies, where there’s a woman who was happily married before, but now doesn’t think her husband gives any kind of attention and falls in love with another man? And then you see a lot of making out, and that’s it! This is that kind of film.
There’s no strong storyline you will enjoy, it’s that same old, same old, and there’s nothing new and interesting. In addition to this, the climax to is not up to the mark. The story just ended without any answer to the main question of the film (who will she actually choose). One thing that I liked was the cast, they did their jobs as expected. But the dialogue and the way of storytelling were not up to the mark. There are stories that keep you hooked up until the end, and there are stories that you just want to move to the climax.
Overall, if you are looking to watch a movie with some climaxes and confused endings but a talented cast, have your way with it. And yes, the flashbacks they showed us were the most interesting parts I found in the film. The ending was a little confusing, so here’s an ending explained easily:
Tonight You Are Sleeping With Me Ending Explained
Nina who thinks is in a passionless marriage life, is always in a fight with her husband for not trying more. But suddenly she meets her long lost, young, and freakishly handsome ex-boyfriend (her husband is handsome too) who came to work under her in the office. They both start to work on the same project. There are a few flashbacks showing the relationship between Nina and Janek. For example, when they were in a relationship they wanted to name their daughter Lina and Zuzia, and Nina named her daughters that. So, both of them were clearly not over each other.
Janek tells her sister that she is again in love with Nina and he doesn’t want to run away from the love again, though his sister tells her that’s not a good idea. Whereas, on the other hand, Maciek is going to Iceland and Nina is not happy that she has to do everything around the house while he is trekking.
But Maciek goes to Iceland anyway. The next day, her daughter, Zuzia falls sick and Janek helps Nina to take care of Zuzia which brought them closer. And then they hold hands (the story of love begins again). Maciek gets to know that a guy named Janek is helping her wife out, so he sends grandma to the house to help her. Nina and her mother never got along, they are like Tom & Jerry fighting over everything.
Finally, Janek and Nina kiss in the office Lift. After they work on the project Janek tells her that ‘Tonight You Are Sleeping With Me’ (I think that’s where they figured out the name of the movie). Then there’s a whole lot of ‘Physical’. For about 20 minutes you will just see both of them doing it, and then you will see a little bit of story.

Nina finally mentions to her mother she is in love and she cannot live without him. Janek gets a new position in Amsterdam and Nina tells him to go as she cannot handle this anymore. But eventually, Nina goes back to his apartment and they start making out again, but this time Maciek gets called mistakenly and hears everything they were doing.
Maciek confronts Nina and asks who was the guy she is screwing around with. Nina then decides to go to Iceland to answer him (I know doesn’t make any sense). While Nina was waiting for him, Maciek sees a guy unconscious in Iceland, he tries to save him but gets himself into the pit.
Now, Maciek is in a coma, and Nina is in the hospital. Janek calls her to know if will she be coming back to him, Nina says no and Janek without hearing the reason hangs up the phone. But the next day, he reached the hospital and said that he will be taking a step back.
Maciek when comes out of the coma he discovers he cannot feel anything, Nina says everything will be okay and get better! The film ends!
What did that mean?
This means that she decided to work on the marriage and leave her lost love again. As Maciek smiles at the end, it says that Nina has now agreed that she will be with him rather than Janek.
