Season 1 has introduced us to Hanzawa and now, we’re well acquainted with his intelligence and colourful personality. He arrived in Beika Town, the land where committing a crime is hardly a chore and justice resides only in books, to exert revenge. He is out to kill a mysterious man as brutally as he could.
In season 1, Hanzawa struggled to maintain a cold facade and often ended up making us topple over in laughter. While we were enjoying his struggle to fit in the town, he was busy formulating a deadly plan for his victim. But we don’t know why Hanzawa is after that man and most importantly who is he.
Season 2 ended with Hanzawa almost reaching his target before he slips away from Hanzawa’s tight clutches. We are expecting him to explore more about Hanzawa’s reason behind moving into a town full of criminals. Also, we would like to unveil the mystery behind Hanzawa’s boss’ death.

There aren’t many significant characters we witnessed in season 1. It mainly evolved around Hanzawa and his struggle to settle into a foreign town. We discovered the lightheartedness in him despite him coming off as obnoxiously cruel sometimes.
This anime series doesn’t have a rich cast ensemble, rather it depends on Hanzawa alone. He is voiced by the abundantly talented Shota Aoi who perfectly creates a balance between Hanzawa’s true self and his outer facade. In season 2, maybe we will get some more significant cast members other than Hanzawa.

Case Closed: The Culprit Hanzawa Season 1 Review: Stream It Or Skip It?
When we read the synopsis, we knew it would be a dark anime but there have been times when it didn’t feel like it. It felt more like a comical breeze rather than a dark storm. We were expecting to witness the criminal side of Hanzawa but what we got was a domesticated version of him.
It works well with us though, the comedy scenes and character build-up are on-point. We thoroughly enjoyed Hanzawa’s ridiculous expressions, strong personality and unique trope. Maybe, we will get to witness what we were promised in season 2.
