The plot of the anime revolves around a VRMMORPG NewWorld Online game. We cannot deny that sometimes we do come under peer pressure. Similarly, the story of the anime began when Kaedo Honjo, under the influence of her friends, started to play this online video game. She started to play the video game under the pseudo name Maple as a shield user with maxed-out defense stats.
She put the status points, that she earned, into increasing her defense level. Using all her points resulted in her being left with a slow foot speed and little to no magic. However, her high defense allowed her to endure most attacks without any damage to her. She made excellent progress in the game, its various events, and quests. She earned unexpected skills and ended up becoming one of the strongest players in the game.
When Sally joined the game later on, both she and Maple built the strongest guild titled Maple Tree. Toward the end of the first season, Maple Tree gains victory against the Congregation of the Holy Swords.
The first season ends with Maple defeating the other Holy Swords and carrying her guild to a third-place finish. Season 2 will pick up from the end of the first season. The character of Maple is voiced by Kaedo Honjo in Japanese and Megan Shipman in English. Sally is voiced by Ruriko Noguchi in Japanese and Jad Saxton in English. Saori Hayami gave their voice in Japanese to Kasumi and Tia Ballard gave their voice in English. Kanade is voiced by Satomi Arai in Japanese and by Brittney Karbowski in English. We can hope for the same voice actors if the creators launch a third season of the anime.
