India’s scientific history goes back many years ago and two of the gems in this field are Dr. Homi Jehangir Bhabha and Vikram Sarabhai. The episodes are approximately 45-50 minutes long and the story revolves around two Indian nuclear physicists Dr. Homi Jehangir Bhabha and Dr. Vikram Sarabhai. The pilot episode starts featuring Dr. Homi J. Bhabha working as a research scientist in Cambridge. Later on, he decides to come back to India and work under CV Raman in the Indian Institute of Science. We then see his journey from becoming a professor at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research or TIFR to being called the “Father of Indian Nuclear Program”. Dr. Homi Bhabha is also known as the founder of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre or BARC.
Rocket Boys also follows the story of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai. He is called the “Father of Indian Space Program”. He was an Indian astronomer and space scientist who worked his way to give India its first-ever space program. Side by side he also contributed hugely to nuclear power development. The show also features Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam’s contribution in the same.
