If we go by the wiki definition anime is a hand-drawn and computer-generated animation that originated in Japan. Since it has to do with animation, they just shortened the word and named it anime.
Anime is basically a set of movies and series which are animated, some people term them as cartoons but they are slightly different since cartoons are just sequential drawings whereas, anime has visually distinct features for characters. It is just a minute difference that we have with TV serials and Web series.
If you are somebody who has not indulged themselves in watching anime and is confused with all the fuss surrounding anime because of the cold war between anime lovers and haters. I as an anime watcher would rather suggest you to try watching one and if it doesn’t abide by your taste you can just not watch it.

Anime Series Releasing In December 2022
1. Me & Roboco
Release Date: 4th of December 2022
Me & Roboco or Boku to Roboko is an anime adaptation of a manga with the same name. The series is set to premiere on the 4th of December 2022. The manga for the same has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump since July 2020.
The main character of the series is Roboco a 17-year-old girl who works as an order maid and a grade-schooler named Bondo Taira. The series’ story is set in a future where almost every household has a system of hiring robots who work for them as maids and are called OrderMaids.
And Bondo Taira is a curious and jealous grade-schooler who wishes to have an OrderMaid working for their household after listening to his fellow friend Motsuo Kaneo’s OrderMaid. His mother initially does not entertain his out-of-the-blue stubborn wish, but he somehow ends up persuading her later.
When he does receive an OrderMaid he is pretty much left feeling bamboozled, because what he sees is something different from what he imagined his maid to be like. Roboco the Taira household’s OrderMaid was rather huge with a masculine body structure who only tends to look like a slender maid when she is low on battery.
The series is basically about the day-to-day activities these two meddle with while handling their weird lives that got, even more, weirder after they started to live with one another. The manga got a rating of 6.2/10 on My Anime List and is termed as a pure gag manga with zero ecchi. The characters are unique in themselves with their jokes and character design.

2. Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure: Stone Ocean Part 3
Release Date: 1st of December 2022
Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure: Stone Ocean or Jojo no Kimyo na Boken Suton Oshan is the continuation of the infamous series Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure. Stone Ocean is the fifth season of the anime and has already released 2 parts of the said season. The third part of the season is set to air on the 1st of December 2022.
The main character of the series is Jolyne Cujoh the daughter of Jotaro Kujo the main character of Season 3. The story begins with Jolyne being in jail. She is sentenced to 15 years in prison for something she did not actually do.
The story escalates with her getting a stand a visual manifestation of life energy that helps the stand owner fight. Only stand owners are capable of seeing stands. She was held in the prison nicknamed Aquarium when Jotaro approaches her informing her about the threat they are about to face.
The story is basically about Jolyne who hated her father for not being with her when she needed him ending up understanding his circumstances and trying to save him from the main antagonist of the season (one of Dio’s disciples).
My Anime List rated the first two parts of the season as an 8.3/10. The series does follow the hype of the previous Jojo seasons and does not disappoint. This is the first part of the Jojo franchise to have a female protagonist. Since the initial two parts are out the third and final part of the season is much awaited.
And of course, it has all the op fight scenes every Jojo lover wishes for with the same unique character design.
Anime Movies Releasing In December 2022
1. The First Slam Dunk
Release Date: 3rd of December 2022
The First Slam Dunk is an upcoming anime movie in the Slam Dunk manga series which has an anime adaptation. It is set to release in theatres on the 3rd of December 2022. Slam Dunk is one of the mangas serialized in the Shueisha’s Shonen Manga Jump.
The manga has been running since the 8th of February 1991 and got an anime adaptation on the 12th of March 1994. The main character of the series is Hanamichi Sakuragi who is a delinquent who has been rejected by girls over 50 times until he meets somebody who is not scared of him, Haruko Akagi.
Haruko after being friends with him sees his potential in sports and introduces him to the school’s basketball team. Even though he was unwilling to join the team initially he ends up Because of his raw athletic physique and capabilities he turns out to be a fantastic basketball player.
Even though he joined the team to impress the girl of his dreams, he ends up more than just liking the sport. The story proceeds with Hanamichi becoming a fine player in the Shoukou basketball team which becomes an all-star contender in Japan who defeated one of the powerhouse high school teams at Interhigh.
The anime has a rating of 8.5/10 on My Anime List and is considered to be one of the most hyped and popular basketball manga in all of Japan. It has all the funny, romantic, rival sort of aspects which makes it all the more worthwhile.

2. Kaiketsu Zorori: Lalala Suta Tanjo

Kaiketsu Zorori: Lalala Suta Tanjo is a movie to be released under the series Kaiketsu Zorori or Incredible Zorori. It is an adaptation of a children’s book series that has been published since the ear 1987. The movie for the same is said to be released in theatres on the 9th of December 2022.
As we know it is a children’s book, that is, it has the main lead of the story fighting demons or sorts to get himself to the ultimate goal. The story is about a fox namely, Zorori who wishes to be an evil king who will own a majestic castle and would end up marrying a beautiful bride.
The following were the goals he stated to his deceased mother. Zorori has two apprentices namely, Ishishi and Noshishi who are twins along with whom he travels. The most amusing fact is that Zorori was actually a villain for another children’s book series, namely, Horenso Man or Spinach Man.
So, basically saying Incredible Zorori is sort of a spin-off of Spinach Man where Incredible Zorori started from the point Spinach Man ended. But irrespective of this, the fact remains that you can watch and enjoy Incredible Zorori without having an idea about the story of Spinach Man.
The anime adaptation of Kaiketsu Zorori got a rating of 7.8/10 and 7/10 on IMDb and My Anime List respectively. The series is very enjoyable and worth watching for children. Even grownups can enjoy the series, it kind off lets off the steam and lets you relax with the childishness and sparkling straightforward wishes of Zorori.
3. Kaguya-sama: Love Is War – The First Kiss That Never Ends

Kaguya-sama: Love IS War – The First Kiss That Never Ends is a movie under the Kaguya-sama: Love Is War series. The movie is set to release on the 17th of December 2022. The movie will be covering the fourteenth arc of the manga series with the same name. The manga for the series has officially ended.
The manga started being serialized in the May of 2015 in Shueisha’s seinen manga magazine Miracle Jump, and the manga was given an anime adaptation that premiered on the 12th of January 2019.
Kaguya-sama: Love Is War or Kaguya-sama wa Kokorasetai: Tensai-tachi no Ren’ai Zunosen is a manga revolving around two main characters, namely, Kaguya Shinomiya and Miyuki Shirogane.
The story begins when Shirogane becomes the council president of Shuchiin Academy alongside Kaguya becoming the vice president. It is a fantastic rom-com where both of them fall for each other but are so stubborn that they don’t want to be the first to confess.
The story escalates when their belief that the first to confess would lose get into their heads. They argue, fight, and live through their lives and duties as the student council while putting all of themselves into making the other confess their feelings to the other.
The anime series was appreciated very well and was given a rating of 8.6/10 on IMDb and an 8.4/10 on My Anime List. The audience gave the series a 4.9/5 via an audience rating survey. The series is a fun-to-watch and adorable experience which has a concept quite different from your usual anime rom-com.

4. The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge Of Edinburgh Part 1
Release Date: 20th of December 2022
The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge Of Edinburgh Part 1 is a sequel to the infamous anime named, The Seven Deadly Sins. It is adapted from the manga with the same name and has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine since the October of 2012.
The anime adaptation of the same premiered sometime in the October of 2014. It is a story centering on a band of knights which comprises 7 members, each referred to with the name of their sin.
The characters are namely, The Dragon’s Sin of Wrath Meiodas, The Serpent’s Sin of Envy Diane, The Fox’s Sin of Greed Ban, The Grizzly’s Sin of Sloth King, The Goat’s Sin of Lust Gowther, The Boar’s Sin of Gluttony Merlin, and The Lion’s Sin of Pride Escanor.
But the movie that is to release is kind of like the story of the next Seven Deadly Sins which includes the above-mentioned character’s kids and some other members of the younger generation.
The anime series ended on the 23rd of June 2021, and the main story was pretty much wrapped up with a happy ending. There were some questions about some of the mysterious powers that were left unattained, hopefully, the movie and the sequels to come would cover it for us.
The series is worth watching if you haven’t watched it yet. The anime was given a rating of 7.9/10 by IMDb and a 7.7/10 by My Anime List. The series has a different world-building concept with appreciable character design and fight scenes.
5. Lonely Castle In The Mirror
Release Date: 23rd of December 2022
Lonely Castle In The Mirror is an upcoming movie based on a Japanese novel of the same name. The Japanese name of the same is Kagami no Kojo which was published on the 11th of May 2017. The movie for the same is set to release on the 23rd of December 2022.
The story revolves around seven students who decide to hide in their bedrooms which are darker than the outside world. They are afraid of confronting their family and friends all alike. The story takes an entertaining turn when they discover a portal to a different dimension, a different world something that offers them momentary relief from the hectic lives they are trying to live.
Moving on with the story the kids are given the sort of like tasks to find a key that would grant them a wish. It is adventurous too as they can only visit the castle in the other world during school hours and are supposed to leave the castle by 5 pm so as to not get eaten by the caretaker of the said castle.
The motive of the movie is how important it is for kids to express themselves. It turns out to be a heart-warming novel that gives you hope and a reality check. The novel in itself is blissful and was rated a 4.3/5 by Goodreads and a 4.5/5 by Amazon, hopefully, the movie would come out clean and equally adorable.

6. Fate/Strange Fake: Whisper Of Dawn

Fate/Strange Fake: Whisper Of Dawn is a movie that is to be released under the Fate/Stange Fake or Feito: Sutorenji Feiku section of the Fate franchise. The said movie is set to be premiered on the 31st of December 2022.
The Fate anime series has been running since the 30th of January 2004 and has set a solid ground for itself in the anime world. The main characters of this segment of the franchise are namely, Sajo Ayaka, Tine Chelc, Tsubaki Kuruoka, Orlando Reeve, Jester Karture, and Flat Escardos.
The series is surrounded by powers of magic and the ideologies and fights that come along in a world with such a strong power set. The story has a sort of death match tournament called the Holy Grail War, where the people with immense magic power fight against each other risking their lives just to get one of their wishes granted by the Holy Grail.
The Fate/Strange Fake’s light novel was given a rating of 4.1/5 by Goodreads and the series was given a rating of 8.3/10 on My Anime List.
The entirety of the series is connected and has interlinked concepts so, it is suggested that you watch the priorly released season and segments of the fate series to understand the upcoming movie better.
ONA’s Releasing In December 2022
An ONA (Original Net Animation) are side stories that are not really portrayed in the main series. It is directly released onto the Internet.
1. Gudetama: An Eggcelent Adventure
Release Date: 13th of December 2022
Gudetama: An Eggcelent Adventure is an upcoming ONA series based on Gudetama a Japanese cartoon character, a literal egg yolk who is lazy and sad to the core. The ONA is said to release on the 13th of December 2022.
Even though an egg yolk being the main character seems sort of funny to begin with, it is an excellent concept, and pretty much every troubled adult or teenager related to what Gudetama feels about modern-day society which has made day-to-day life so much more complicated and hectic.
The cartoon character was made by the Sanrio studio and Gudetama was such a fun character that he turned out to be the 3rd best character made by the studio. There are video games and comics based on Gudetama and now Netflix is releasing an ONA on the character in the coming month.
The name Gudetama basically means a lazy egg, it is named so because the egg is so tired and done with everything, and is aware that he will end up on somebody’s plate sooner or later, he just wants to laze around without having to do anything productive.
The very idea is simple, we all are gonna end up dead sometime in the future and we are literally not taking anything with us. What is the use of working yourself to the boot without living your life?
Hopefully, Netflix did a fantastic job adapting the character, as if portrayed correctly it is one op lazy egg.

OVA’s Releasing In December 2022
An OVA (Original Video Animation) similar to ONA’s also sides stories of an already existing main series that is not portrayed in the main series. The only difference between an ONA and an OVA is the fact that OVAs are made especially for release in a home-video format.
1. Onna No Sono No Hoshi
Release Date: 8th of December 2022
Onna No Sono No Hoshi or Hoshi of the Girls Garden is to release an OVA on the 8th of December 2022. The OVA is basically adapted from the manga with the same name that has been serialized in Shodensha’s Josei Manga Magazine Feel Young since January 2020.
The story revolves around a male teacher named Hoshi who teaches Japanese at an all-girls school. He is a fun teacher who tries hard to help out and be there for both his students and his colleagues.
His students ask him to play a game of shiritori with him (A word game in which players are required to say a word that begins with the final kana of the previous word) based on their daily notes and somehow end up convincing him to get a pet dog for their classroom and out of the blue starts to ask him advice on how to become a mangaka (a manga artist).
His colleagues selfishly drag him to pubs. The characters and the very concept is kind of different which makes for an excellent outline for the story which is comical and fun to watch.
The manga series is rated a 7.2/10 by My Anime List and is well appreciated by the audience. Hopefully, the OVA provides us with waves of laughter.
2. Lupin Zero
Release Date: 16th of December 2022
Lupin Zero is an OVA under the Lupin III television special. The OVA is set to release on the 16th of December 2022. The series first premiered in the year 2002.
The story of Lupin III was released about 50 years ago and it still remains popular with about 17 anime series. The story for the same is of Arsene Lupin III the grandson of an infamous thief name Arsene Lupin who was termed the world’s greatest thief.
Whereas, the story of the Lupin the 3rd: Episode 0: The First Contact highlights the perspective of others in the series and begins with Daisuke Jigen being asked about the details of how he met Arsene Lupin III and the gang and, the main characters of the series being Arsene Lupin III, Fujiko Mine, Daisuke Jigen, Goemon Ishikawa XIII, Inspector Koichi Zenigata, Brad, Erina, Shade, Galvez and some other influential characters like Detective George McFly.
The OVA is probably gonna be a fun watch and it hopefully will align itself with the hype and the previous anime series the franchise has managed to release.
