Even though his surname was supposed to be Shrivastav Harivansh Rai Bachchan Ji chose to use his pen name Bachchan as he was opposing the caste system. He also has a younger brother whom not many people know about, his name is Ajitabh Bachchan, and is 5 years younger than him.

He underwent his secondary education was at Boy’s High School and College in Akkahabad and a college named Sherwood in Nainital. He graduated from Kirori Mai College around the year 1962 with a Bachelor of Science degree. After he finished his studies his father tried and approached Prithviraj Kapoor hoping to find an opening for his son, which was denied.

Bachchan Ji’s first debut in the film industry was in the year 1969 as a narrator in Mrinal Sen’s film called Bhuvan Shome. His first debut as a film actor was in a movie named Saat Hindustani. His first notable work was the film named Anand which was released in the year 1971. He was 29 during the release of the film Anand and by the time he was 30 he had 12 flop films weighing him down with only two appreciable works, namely, Bombay to Goa and Anand. He has also played as an antagonist and also had experience with dual roles. Amitabh Ji till the movie Zanjeer was somebody who worked in films with the main genre being romance. The first film where his genre was crime changed the course of his career as a whole. The movie Zanjeer got him the tag of the angry young man.

Amitabh Bachchan Ji has won 4 National Awards as the Best Actor, he also won a Dadasaheb Phalke Award as a lifetime achievement award, 16 Filmfare Awards, and 11 Screen Awards. He was crowned as the Superstar of the Millennium at the 2000 Filmfare Awards.  

He won 3 Padma Awards namely, a Padma Shri in 1984, a Padma Bhushan in 2001, and a Padma Vibhushan in 2015 which are one of the highest civilian honors of India announced annually on the eve of 26th January (Republic Day of India).

He also received awards internationally, namely, he received an Order of Afghanistan by the president of Afghanistan and a Legion of Honour the highest civilian honor from the Government of France. He was awarded with the Alexandria International Film Festival in Egypt as a recognition for his contribution to the cinema world. He received the Medal of Honor of Morocco and it was given to him by King Mohammed at the Marrakech International Film Festival.

He received about 4 Honorary Awards, namely, the Lifetime Achievement Award, Superstar of The Millennium, Power Award, and a Special Award for completing 40 years in the Indian cinema industry.
