Ever heard of a genius professor who is also a terrorist? Theodore John Kaczynski is a former mathematics professor and also an American domestic terrorist. Ted was an assistant professor of mathematics at the University of California which is at Berkeley. He was born on May 22, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. He is known as the Unabomber after the FBI named his case UNABOM which is the abbreviation of University and Airline Bomber. He was a genius person and everyone who knew him believed that he would have been successful because of his talent and intelligence if he had not chosen the wrong path. He left his job as a professor to live a simple life in a cabin that had no source of light or water and work simple jobs. He wanted to live such a life to keep himself away from the industrial society. His cabin was in the woods of Lincoln, Montana. It was reported that his IQ level is 167 which is stated to be of genius level.

Ted was an excellent student and was also a member of various school groups. He had an interest in mathematics since then. He skipped 6th and 11th grade. He graduated at the age of 15. Ked was among his school’s five National Merit finalists. He then applied to Harvard. He was sent to Harvard at the age of 16. He was among the youngest students at Harvard. His friends described him as an intelligent person but a bit reserved too. He earned his master’s degree in the year 1964 and doctoral degree in the year 1967 in mathematics. When asked the reason to plan those bombings he said that it was revenge. He always fantasized about killing people whom he didn’t like. He didn’t want to increase the advances in technology which made all the researchers, government officials, and officers his enemy. That’s the reason he planned those bombings.

Between the years 1978 and 1995. He was arrested on 3 April 1996. Ted carried out bombing against people who according to them were in research to develop modern technology. Out of all the bombings he carried out, 3 were fatal. The first and second bombing that he carried out was at Northwestern University on May 25, 1978, and May 9, 1979, respectively. In the first bombing Terry Marker, a university police officer was injured and in the second bombing John Harris, a graduate student was injured. Ted believed that the increasing modern technology was a hazard to the human race. According to him, people are shaping themselves to their social needs when it should have been the opposite way. He was against Industrial Revolution.

According to some reports, Ted Kaczynski is the richest and also well-known criminal in the prison. He bombed many institutes across the United States where any research on technological progress was going on. In his attacks, 3 people died and 23 were injured. His bombing on December 11, 1985, killed a computer store owner, Hugh Scrutton. On December 19, 1994, the bombing in North Caldwell also killed an advertising executive, Thomas J. Mosser. His last bombing in Sacramento on April 24, 1995, killed a timber industry lobbyist, Gilbert Brent Murray.

Two of the bombs he planted were defused among them one was planted at the University of Utah in the year 1981 and the other was planted at The Boeing Company in Auburn, Washington in the year 1985. The FBI was searching for TED for many years and later found him with his own brother’s assistance.

Is Ted Kaczynski Still Alive

The answer to this question is, yes, he is still alive. Ted Kaczynski is in prison and is still serving his time in prison for the crimes he did and spent two decades in federal Supermax prison in Colorado. He is now 80 years old. He spent most of his sentence in an isolated cell as the prison in Colorado was a high-security prison. He was transferred to Federal Medical in Butner North Carolina on December 14, 2021. There are facilities like crafts, pool tables, and stationary bikes in the FMC.

They also have access to the legal library for six days a week. People now believe that Ted’s beliefs regarding how the new and advanced technology is ruining coming generations are true. But the solution that he found was unacceptable. There is no possibility of parole for Ted Kaczynski.
