StarPlus is an Indian Hindi language general entertainment pay TV channel owned by Disney Star (formerly Star India), a subsidiary of The filmmaker Company India. The network’s programming consists of family dramas, comedies, youth-oriented reality shows, shows on crime, and tv films. When it was first launched on 21 February 1992, StarPlus was an English-language entertainment TV channel broadcasting international television shows from the US, UK, Australia, and New Zealand, with Zee TV being the Hindi-language counterpart. On 31 March 1996, after Star ended its relationship with Zee TV, StarPlus was transformed completely into a Hindi-language channel, with Star World becoming the network’s English-language counterpart channel, and also the company’s CEO Sameer Nair and programming chief Tarun Katial introduced a variety of recent shows, which helped solidify the channel’s position because the leader within the Hindi-language television broadcasting area. The channel launched within u. s. in November 2004.
The channel’s HD feed was launched on April 15, 2011. It contains the same schedule as the SD feed but with different commercials. Hotstar recently launched in the Canadian market.
