Archive 81 became sort of a pop culture event when it was released in January 2022, the show is packed with scary and thrilling moments that make everyone gasp with the adrenaline rush they would get when they would see the show. The series definitely deserved that 7.3 out of 10 rating on IMDB and to be fair more than that. Archive 81 has a watch time of 128.47 million hours globally and that is more than justified. We all still get the chills when we think about the show and that fire ending, the person who thought about that definitely needs a raise and another supernatural horror show. The ending was so rocking that it needs a special article. The viewers know that the ending was just the beginning, so we will answer some questions as well.
Archive 81 Ending Explained
Archive 81 has everything in tune, the actors, the cinematography, and that bomb sound score. Dan Turner, played by Mamoudou Athie, agrees to restore the tapes because he felt a connection to his past. Melody Pandreas played by Dina Shahibi and Dan feel a connection on the screen even if they are on different sides of the timelines, both are also trying to find the truth in their own respective worlds. In the last episode, we saw that Melody is eager to save Jess, played by Ariana Neal, from the people of that cult who are going to sacrifice Jess in order to revoke the god Kaelego. Despite the fact that Steve turner played by Charlie Hudson III, trying to save Melody and stopping her from going to the building again, she reaches the Visser building to save Jess.
Melody was able to save Jess, and Jess was the one who carries and saves the tape to let the world know. As you may have seen Melody and Dan seem to have some kind of connection when he gets to know that Melody knows his father and the sermon at the Visser building is maybe the reason behind the fire at his house, in which he lost all his family. Dan knows something is fishy and tries to redo the sermon so that he can save Melody, as Samuel Spear played by Evan Jonigkeit takes Melody away. We all got surprised when we saw that Virgil Davenport also knew the things about Visser played by Martin Donovan. Mark, played by Matt McGory, tries to stop Dan but eventually fails and helps Dan in that process.
Archive 81 does not fail with shocking revelations, as another shocking aspect is when the creepy keeper of the house Bobbi played by Jacqueline Antaramian reveals that she is a balding witch and also the mother of Melody, and she explains that she tried to keep Melody away so that she can not know about the Vos society and not get used by the people, but as you may know, Samuel sends those false letters to bring Melody in the Visser building in the hope that she may find her birth mother. Bobbi helps Dan to open that portal to another world because she knows that Melody is out there somewhere possibly with Samuel, she states that the witches can save the destruction which can happen because of the ceremony. When that path is open for Dan to reach into the other world to save Melody, he enters and tries to find her, the vision is blurry and the place has a weird feeling.
He finds Melody and tries to bring her back without Samuel, she is back but alone and we see Dan in a hospital bed, the surroundings do not look modern and the news is also old on the television which is in his room, the nurse also tells him that he is lucky to survive the fire, he stands up and gets confused with his surroundings, he looks out of the window and his jaw is wide open as he is not able to understand where he is right now, it seems like he is in the past most probably in 1994. The last episode of Archive 81 left everyone on a confusing turn, the season 1 of the show ended with a lot of questions in everyone’s minds.

Where Is Dan?
The surroundings seem to say he is in the past but it was not revealed where exactly in the timeline he was. Is time travel possible and even if it is how Dan will get back to his presence because the timeline will get weird if he is stuck in the past? Everyone was confused at the end of the show just like Dan and we hope that he gets back, Mark the friend of Dan is confused as well about everything, we feel you Mark we all are in the same boat of confusion. It will be so fascinating to know how he gets back or any other mind-boggling twists and turns.
How Did Dan And Melody Got Connected Through The Tape?
We get to see that they both can feel the presence of each other, Melody also was in Dan’s dreams, one thing we all want to know is how they both got connected, one of the reasons might be Kaelego or the mould but how they know each other and contact is a mystery. The show became more creepy in a fascinating way because you could feel the connection between the two worlds really strangely. The connection made Dan try to save Melody but how did he get every little insight and every little detail, he could feel that Melody was trying to contact but how? Their destiny is aligned but there should be more information about how they contacted each other. In the end, we are just left with more questions that we all are eager to find.
Should There Be Another Ritual For Bringing Dan Back?
Doing the ritual again seems like the best option to bring Dan back, but doing that also comes with so many risks, but bringing Dan back is also important. There does not seem to be any other choice or option other than the ritual. So trying again might open more bad energy but also a hope that Dan might get into his timeline again. Bobbi said that she does not have the power to do the sermon again but Melody can try it as she is also a baldung witch but she doesn’t know how to and knowing the bad things doing the ritual again might be a bad idea. Season 2 may reveal the details or some other ways to bring Dan back without opening the portal to the other world again.

Should People Like Bobbi And Virgil Davenport Be Trusted?
Trust is a risky thing, it takes years to develop but minutes to tear it down. There is so much confusion about Bobbi is she really the mother of Melody, if she has powers she could try to save Melody when she was in the Visser building, why is she working with Virgil Davenport knowing that he is the brother of Samuel if she has the power she could have tried it herself, she also knew that Melody is stuck in the other world, did she do the sermon for her own benefit, her entry gave more questions than answers. Virgil Davenport is the one who appointed Dan to restore the tapes, he knew about Dan’s father and the ritual, he said he was trying to do that to know about his brother Samuel but we cannot be sure, he may have some different agenda, his company LMG seems pretty weird and we are not sure what his actual task is.
Will There Be Archive 81 Season 2?
If there is one thing that nobody likes about Netflix is that they cancel good shows and instead renew the shows and movies that everyone seems to dislike. Unfortunately, that is the same case with Archive 81, the series was left on a really good and grasping ending that watching the show for a second season would be so satisfying. Netflix decided to cancel the show back in March, there is no news as to why Netflix decided to cancel the show, as the series was well-received, it was on the no. 1 spot in the US for a while, also it was on the Netflix top 10 list as well, the most justified reason can be the budget, but another season of Archive 81 would have been great. The readers can try the podcast that is available on Spotify, and is not cancelled, unlike the show, if you are in desperate need to know the story, the podcast is the best available option.
