American Horror Stories Season 2 Episode 3 Recap
A woman is driving home alone in the middle of the night in Episode 3 when she sees a truck following her, closing in on her quickly, and flashing its headlights. The man in the backseat of her car—the one the truck driver had been trying to warn her about—kills her in the end as she drives in terror, believing she is safe. The only female driver, Marci (Bella Thorne), is not the victim. “Drive” intentionally leaves its audience in the dark about where it’s going. Chaz, who is quite understanding, and Marci are portrayed to be an openly married, very promiscuous party animal couple.
Every night, Marci seems to be tempting fate by picking up a few haphazard men in clubs and engaging in sexual activity with them in the back of her SUV. Given the news stories of a serial killer and Chaz’s acute fear to the point where he has started following Marci, there are many different routes this story could go. The situation isn’t exactly as it seems, though. We finally come to the conclusion that Marci is the murderer after considerable time has passed. The haughty man in the back seat, whom Marci had earlier in the episode met in a bar, turns out to be the most recent of her victims. Because Paul, the good Samaritan, witnessed enough to put a halt to her killing spree, he becomes her next victim.
