Secret Royal Inspector joy is a South Korean mystery historical Rom-com tv series that was got released on November 8, 2021. The historical series is written by Lee Jae Yoon and directed by Yoo Jong Sun it premiered on MBC every Friday and Saturday. It depicts the story from the Joseon era where a service worker who works secretly works as a royal inspector to find the corrupt officials along with his partner a free spirit divorced woman who hopes to bring a change in society. It is light-hearted series with comedy and romance but sadly it was not well received by the viewers they pointed out that the script was well written but it lacked execution which made the series look dull after a few episodes. According to my drama list, 13,513 have watched the series and they have rated it 7.9 out of 10. The series mainly focuses on the comic part but along with that it also highlights the hardships of mothers and kids during the war, woman’s issues during that era and other thought-provoking issues. The female cast is also part of the Joseon era but she does not act like one of those girls who are suppressed by the male-dominating society in this series she also takes an active part in the investigation and finding her mother.

The series premiered on November 8, 2021, on tvN it has 16 episodes in total running for about 60 minutes. The series received mixed reviews from the audience but it received a good viewership rating within Korea. As for season 2, the series is yet to be renewed for another season neither the makers nor the cast has given any hint about the series’ return. The chances of that happening seem unlikely because it is a 16-episode series and the makers have already wrapped up the story in season 1 itself. It looks like season 1 was the last and only season of this series because the last episode did not hint at a continuation.

Secret Royal Inspector Joy Season 1 Recap
The series begins with Jang Kiwan and his servant who steals a book from a person after getting the book the two of them kill the person and throw his dead body into the sea. Now in the present day, we were introduced to a guy named Ra Ian who was washing some vegetables but his two servants inform him that he is getting late for his work. He works as a public service worker with other ministers during the lunch break everyone gets together to eat their lunch. The other minister approaches Ra Ian because he brings a delicious lunch everyone wants a bite from his lunch but he tells them he will only share his lunch if they pay him some amount. Then we were introduced to a lady named Kim Joy who approaches the judicial authority to get a divorce from her husband she tells the authority that she should never have met this guy she has already wasted a lot of her time with this man but she does not want to spend the rest of her life with him. Before she could say more her mother-in-law approaches the authority and tells him that she would not let this happen because she cares for her a lot which is a total lie and stops her from getting divorce.
