Gordita Chronicles Season 1 Story
Cucu “Gordita” Castelli (Olivia Goncalves) has just bid her goodbyes to her friends and family in Santo Domingo in 1985. Victor (Juan Javier Cardenas), her marketing executive father, Adela (Diana Maria Riva), and Emilia, her social standing older sister, have all relocated to Miami (Savannah Nicole Ruiz). While living in America isn’t quite what they expected — “I think they oversold it,” Cucu says of the song’s title — the Castelli’s are determined to make the best of their unusual new surroundings. Family, opportunity, love, resilience, and bucking the status quo in pursuit of the “American Dream” are all themes in this coming-of-age series. Cucu Castelli (Goncalves) and her quirky family must seek and identify their version of the “American Dream” in 1980s Miami after migrating from the Dominican Republic. Cucu tackles the obstacles of being an immigrant in a weird foreign world head-on, with wit, confidence, and some truly terrible decisions.

Juan Javier Cardenas, who played Dante in The Walking Dead, joins her as the patriarch of the Gordita Chronicles. Olivia Goncalves, a rookie to the show, plays the titular character. She doesn’t have a lot of credits under her belt, and Gordita Chronicles appears to be her big break. Savannah Nicole Ruiz, who plays Emilia, the older sister, completes this small nuclear family.
