This trilogy brings us back to the magical world of Middle-earth and all its colourful inhabitants. It takes place 60 years before the sequel. It focuses on the dangerous journey of an unlikely hero and the epic quest for dangerous enemies. This movie is a series of action-packed adventures and epic battles. However, CGI is a bit worn out, so the graphics don’t look as good as in the Lord of the Rings. Extending some of the compact sequences in the book, this trilogy is a bit long. It provides a fantastic and immersive world with interesting characters like Harry Potter and magical elements.

3. The Chronicles Of Narnia Series (2005–10)
This series is based on the epic fantasy children’s book series of the same name by C.S. Lewis. It’s pretty close to the feel and trajectory of Harry Potter. Like Harry, the Pevensey brothers are living a tough life as the war devastates the world. But then they find a portal to the magical realm of Narnia, where most of the series takes place. The Chronicles of Narnia is a wonderful land with its legends, philosophies, myths, and its wars.
4. Pan’s Labyrinth (2006)
Guillermo del Toro’s dark fantasy film is a battering and unpredictable masterpiece. It is based on the ugly reality of war and fascism, where magical elements blend seamlessly. It features great world-building, grotesque characters, and the heroine’s dangerous journey to accomplish great work. The young protagonist Ofelia (Ivana Baquero) leaves a bad house and enters a fantastic world. She needs to complete three deadly quests to prove she is the princess of the underworld. The amazing production design makes the world of the labyrinth a magnificent and slightly eerie sight. During Ofelia’s adventures in the Labyrinth, you may find traces of the Goblet of Fire. Pan’s Labyrinth shines as both a fantasy movie and a war movie.
5. Bridge To Terabithia (2007)
The bridge over Terabithia does not use magic, but much imagination is used to provide elements of fantasy. Fantasy and reality coexist here. But what reminds me of this Harry Potter movie is the children’s life stories and friendships. Jesse (Josh Hutcherson) and Leslie (AnnaSophia Robb) coordinate the challenges they face in their daily lives and escape to the fantasy world of Terabithia. The lessons of life they learn together in this area will also help them deal with the difficulties of real life.
6. Matilda (1996)
Matilda, adapted from the Roald Dahl book of the same name, has much in common with Harry Potter. A fantasy movie centred on a child prodigy. Little Matilda (Mara Wilson) lives a pretty terrible life in her house and she finds her shelter in her book. Her life changes when she realizes that she has psychokinesis. She will use her abilities to fight the injustices found around her. This movie realizes Dahl’s vision very well. It deals with serious and creepy things but darkly and comically. While the issue of child neglect and cruelty comes to the fore, comedy prevents the movie from becoming overly heavy or sentimental. Even the Ambridge-style villain, Miss Trunchbull (Pam Ferris), has been ridiculed to the point that her sneakiness is tinged with a farce. An eccentric, entertaining, and entertaining movie with innovative staging and colourful characters.

7. The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008)
The Spiderwick Chronicle is a fantasy adventure movie starring children navigating a world full of magical creatures. The three children and their mother live in an eerie old Gothic mansion. 8. Stardust (2007)
Based on the novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman, this romantic fantasy adventure is a great carefree entertainer. Stardust does not have children as its main focus, but the fantasy world it presents has childlike vibrancy, innocence, and humour. It’s funny, ridiculous, and sometimes completely on top. The cast has done a great job, especially Michelle Pfeiffer, who shines in her role as an evil witch. It’s a happy, capricious, charming, and cute movie with funny characters.
9. Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children (2016)
Tim Burton’s adaptation of Ransom Riggs’ novel of the same name wasn’t a hit with many fans of the book, but it’s a fun watch in itself. The nameless house is a kind of small Hogwarts specially made for children with supernatural powers. This orphanage is their sanctuary because they cannot be integrated into normative society. Like the X-Men, each child has his or her power. A seemingly ordinary Jake (Asa Butterfield) enters this strange world and soon realizes that these children are under threat. He faces the situation and must be her saviour.

10. Alice In Wonderland (2010)
This is another Tim Burton movie that does a lot right. But being a true adaptation of Carroll’s iconic, wonderful book is not one of them. It’s a completely different take, but the originality of this version is commendable. Also, this movie is certainly a bit like Harry Potter. The interpretation of Burton’s fantastic adult story is very nice. Brings out and amplifies the original darkness of the original. Older Alice (Mia Wasikowska) returns to the fantastic realm she dubbed “Wonderland”. However, due to the dark tones of the movie, this place is called “Underland” and faces great difficulties. Alice seems destined to save Underland. And the amazing Helena Bonham Carter also goes crazy in the best possible way in this movie.
11. A Monster Calls (2016)
The brutal reality blends seamlessly with dark fantasy in this heartfelt adaptation of Patrick Ness’s novel of the same name. Lewis MacDougall shines as a young Conor suffering from great emotional distress. His mother is terminally ill, his grandmother is very severe and he is being bullied at school. A giant anthropomorphic tree monster helps solve his problem. This simple parable deals with many complex themes and emotions. It uses its magic and monsters to tell an allegorical story of sadness and loss. Some factors, such as the dynamics of bullying, may have been handled more appropriately. But in the end, there are a few mistakes in this movie. Some scenes are well-written and supervised and have memorable effects. Monster Cole isn’t your traditional monster movie, but it’s a powerful and tragic story that immerses you in a journey of suffering.
12. Escape To Witch Mountain (1975)
Based on the novel of the same name by Alexander H. Key, this was the first movie of the Witch Mountain franchise. A Disney movie that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. It has a potter element in the form of the main character of two children. Tony (Ike Eisenmann) and Tia (Kim Richards) are orphan brothers and are not well suited to the normal world. They have telekinetic, telepathic, and psychic powers. A greedy millionaire is trying to capture her to harness these powers. So, with the help of a friendly widower, the children escape from them. Followed by several episodes of the car chase. It’s not ground-breaking and the fantasy elements are used sparingly. However, Escape to Witch Mountain is a friendly entertainer with certain special effects at the time.
13. The Fantastic Beasts Movie
This is a spin-off and prequel to the Harry Potter series co-produced by the United Kingdom and the United States. Inspired by the 2001 guidebook of the same name, J.K. Rowling produced and wrote his screenplay debut. Newt Scamander, a British sorcerer and “magician,” first appeared in New York City in 1926. He meets Mary Lou Barebone, the non-magical (“No Maj” or “Muggle”) leader of the New Salem Charitable Society, who preaches that witches and wizards are true and dangerous. When it comes to finding a movie similar to Harry Potter, it’s a better way than checking out a movie set in the same universe. The first Fantastic Beasts movie is J.K. Rolling’s Hogwarts Library Book, which covers a variety of supernatural beings. The movie introduces characters from very different casts, but you can hear some common names spoken. Despite the new face, the movie is very similar to Harry Potter’s style.
14. The Percy Jackson & The Olympians Movie

19. Inkheart
