The Boys is an Amazon Prime Video-exclusive American black comedy superhero television series created by Eric Kripke. It follows the eponymous vigilante team as they battle superpowered individuals who abuse their abilities, based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, which was originally published by DC Comics under its Wildstorm imprint before moving to Dynamite Entertainment.

About The Boys
The Boys is set in a world where superhumans are regarded as heroes by the general public and work for Vought International, a powerful corporation that markets and monetizes them. Most of them are arrogant, selfish, and corrupt outside of their heroic personas. The Seven, Vought’s premier superhero team, and the Boys, vigilantes looking to bring down Vought and its fake superheroes, are the main characters of the series.
On July 26, 2019, the first season premiered. The series was renewed for a third season in July 2020, ahead of the second season’s premiere, and was released on June 3, 2022. The series has been nominated for six Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series in 2021, for its writing, storyline, humour, and performances by the cast (particularly Urban and Starr).
In September 2020 and December 2021, two spin-off shows were ordered, the last of which, The Boys Presents: Diabolical, premiered on March 4, 2022.
The official poster for the series was released on September 26, 2018. A teaser trailer for the series was released on October 5, 2018, in conjunction with the series’ panel at the annual New York Comic-Con. Another teaser trailer was released on Seth Rogen’s official Twitter account on January 24, 2019. After a new teaser was released, the series premiered on July 26, 2019. Amazon renewed The Boys for a second season ahead of its premiere, which will air on September 4, 2020. On July 22, Slipknot released “Solway Firth,” a new single with a music video that included clips and audio from the show. The Boys Season 4 Story
Billy Butcher, who despises all superpowered people, leads the Boys, while Homelander, the unstable and violent leader of the Seven, leads the Seven. Hughie Campbell joins the Boys at the start of the series after the superhero A-Train kills his girlfriend while high on drugs. Annie January, a young and hopeful heroine forced to confront the truth about those she admires, joins the Seven elsewhere. The disillusioned Queen Maeve, the insecure Deep, the mysterious Black Noir, and the white supremacist Stormfront are among the Seven. Mother’s Milk, a tactical planner, Frenchie, a weapons specialist, and Kimiko, a superpowered test subject, round out the Boys. Vought executive Madelyn Stillwell supervises the Seven, who is later succeeded by publicist Ashley Barrett
A film adaptation of The Boys was in various stages of development at both Columbia Pictures and Paramount Pictures between 2008 and 2016. Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay were in charge of the screenplay, and Adam McKay expressed interest in directing. McKay stated that he would like to cast Russell Crowe as Billy Butcher and Simon Pegg as Hughie, as well as shoot the film in 3D. Cinemax announced on April 6, 2016, that it was developing a television series based on the comic book. Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg, and Seth Rogen collaborated on the project. The series was set to be written by Kripke, and directed by Goldberg and Rogen.

Erin Moriarty was cast in the lead role of Annie January / Starlight on December 18, 2017, according to Deadline. Antony Starr, Dominique McElligott, Chace Crawford, Jessie Usher, and Nathan Mitchell were added to the main cast on January 17, 2018. Laz Alonso, Jack Quaid, and Karen Fukuhara were cast as series regulars in March 2018. Karl Urban was cast in the series lead role of Billy Butcher on April 5, 2018, according to reports. Elisabeth Shue was cast in the series regular role of Madelyn Stillwell on May 16, 2018, it was announced. Tomer Kapon was announced as a new member of the main cast in the film on June 25, 2018.
Frenchie. n Jennifer Esposito was cast in the recurring role of CIA Agent Susan Raynor on August 30, 2018, according to Deadline. During the annual New York Comic Con on October 5, 2018, it was revealed that Simon Pegg had been cast in the role of Hughie’s father. Hughie was drawn in the comics to resemble Pegg after the artist saw Pegg in the sitcom Spaced, but Pegg thought he was too old to play Hughie in the TV series, according to the artist Robertson.
Goran Vinji and Claudia Doumit were cast in recurring roles for the second season on September 5, 2019. Patton Oswalt was cast in an unspecified role a month later. Stormfront will be played by Aya Cash, according to reports.

Shooting Of The Boys
Principal photography for the second season, like the first, took place in Toronto from June 17 to November 13, 2019. The crew filmed Translucent’s funeral ceremony at the Meridian Arts Centre, which is located in Toronto’s North York district. For the scene where the Deep is arrested, the crew filmed at the Wet ‘n’ Wild Toronto Waterpark, with some CGI modifications to recreate the series’ fictional Splash Zone Sandusky park. Filming for the Collective’s church scenes took place at the Scottish Rite Club in Hamilton, Ontario.
The third season’s principal photography took place from February 24 to September 10, 2021.
