Panchayat Season 1 Recap

The show follows the life of an engineering graduate named Abhishek Tripathi who, due to a lack of better work opportunities, accepts a position as a Panchayat secretary in the distant village of Phulera, Uttar Pradesh. The show revolves around Abhishek’s struggles adjusting to village life as a city born-and-bred man, and his attempts at finding a better life for himself; one that isn’t in Phulera.

A subplot is devoted to the character Manju Devi, who despite being the Pradhan/Sarpanch only acts as a figurative head with her husband, the former Sarpanch, making all the decisions. Over the course of the show, we see Manju Devi come into her own, displaying more agency as she begins to take decisions into her own hands. The show ends with hints of more, with a budding romance being introduced between Abhishek and Rinki, the daughter of Pradhanji.

Panchayat Season 2 Story

Panchayat Season 2 Release Date

The expectation is that Abhishek, who for so long has been trying to leave Phulera, will realize his attachment to the place and the people in it, possibly turning down opportunities to move out. We see hints of this with his infatuation with Rinky, which is sure to strengthen the connection he has to the place. In addition, we should see developments in the supporting cast as well. Manju Devi and her husband have had growing tension regarding who takes on the role of Pradhan and who makes the real decisions; there may be a progression and possibly even a resolution to that subplot.

There might even be the introduction of new characters and plots; we’ll have to wait for the release of Season 2 to know for sure what the future holds for the characters in Panchayat.

Panchayat Season 2 Cast

Jitendra Kumar plays Abhishek Tripathi, the main character who moves to Phulera.
