Evan “Buck” Buckley, a rookie firefighter, understands the value of his work. Buck is traumatized as a result of a roller coaster accident. Athena and Hen are dispatched in response to a devil dog assault, which Athena later realizes is a home invasion. Abby dials Buck’s number and speaks with him on the phone. When Athena returns home, she discovers that her daughter has overdosed. Ransomware, a hacking group, takes control of all of Los Angeles’ technology. When a female’s GPS throws her right into the ocean, the 118 is dispatched. Fear at an airport control centre causes three of the operators to have heart attacks at the same time. Jeffery Hudson, an Athena suspect, is put on trial but escapes as Ransomware strikes while his sentence.
Eddie had a panic episode after a salesman misidentifies Ana as Christopher’s mother. Buck is concerned when he learns of Eddie’s health problems. Maddie’s postpartum depression deteriorates. Ransomware triggers a city-wide outage, prompting the 118 to assist at a hospital that is understaffed and lacking power. Hudson’s lawyer is discovered to be in love with him and assists him in evading Detective Ransone’s custody.
Chimney and Maddie return to Los Angeles and confess that they have broken up, as well as being taken aback by all of the changes that have taken place while they were away. The 118 replies to a rookie diver who resurfaces too rapidly after panicking in a shark cage, as well as a man who becomes trapped in a web created by the tarantulas he is pet-sitting.
